I got one of these today. Samsung Magician (official SSD utility) showed it had 5 TBW, 11 power cycles and 100 power on hours with 9 unsafe shutdowns under the S.M.A.R.T. info log. I ran a benchmark and it initially failed and completely disconnected the drive from my system. After reboot it showed back up and has since completed 3 benchmarks and a few diagnostic scans with no apparent errors. Cautiously optimistic.

I wonder if it comes with manufacturers warranty. According to amazon, items sold from amazon resale does not generally come with manufacturers warranty. Could be a risky buy if so.

I've had problems with the 4TB 990 Pro, but Samsung replaced it for me. I've also been burned 70-80% of the time by Amazon's "Used, like new" falsehoods, with some stuff being shipped to me that should have been thrown in the trash, yes, it really has been that bad.

I don't buy that shit anymore...

All I have to say is "good luck", you're going to need it... (PS - I have 8 or 9 Samsung SSDs and never had an issue except with the 990, yet I'll buy another.. NEW).

Plus a potential extra 7% back if you have a Prime card and don't mind slower shipping:

But like the other commenter noted, it is probably not covered under Sammy's warranty so keep that in mind:

Quote :
Warranty is only valid for the original purchaser and only if the SSD was bought in original sealed packaging from an authorized reseller

Although it does say "Samsung warrants to the purchaser of the Product in its original sealed packaging ("You") that the Product is free from defects in material and workmanship, subject to the conditions stated herein, the limited warranty period, which duration is specified in section b of this agreement, beginning on the date the product was purchased in its original sealed packaging." I've been able to get Samsung to honor their warranty on a couple of used drives (SSD and m.2) that I bought from Amazon and Microcenter before. I just make sure I register the product the day I receive it on Samsung's website and attach the receipt so it's on file.

The 30% discount for "USED" is too tempting, just ordered the non-heatsink version. It will be installed in an LG Gram, thus heatsink doesn't fit...just a bare drive.. I'm not overly concerned about a 5 year warranty but want to test and confirm the drive is in good working condition.immediately after it arrives. Plan on using Samsung Magician to confirm it is authentic and Crystal Disk Info to check "write" usage and operating temp. I'm hoping these are simply returns because the buyer changed their mind after purchase.
