Both are excellent deals. Your statement that the Dewalt set has less filler items is false, if we are counting hex bits and hex wrenches as filler items. The Dewalt set actually has more of those. So the choice is paying $14 more for a few more sockets, or getting fewer sockets in trade for a lower price and ratcheting wrenches. It's nice to have the option of either, as both are premium grade tool sets at a very low price.

It's good price. Sams club sells same set for $100. That's what I paid 1 year ago. It's usable good tool set. Only issue I noticed when i give some pressure on screwdriver handle turning self and not moving the bit! if you looking for wrenches they good and still looks good. case also not bad!

Even though these have ratcheting wrenches, I think for $99 the DeWalt set at Amazon is the better buy. You are getting more sockets with the DeWalt and less filler items.

This is an extremely good deal, especially with the bonus of the ratcheting combination wrenches. I bought essentially that same Channel Lock set about 15 years ago from Sam' Club and have never regretted it. The ratchets are especially good. You will never find a better deal than this one.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. It appears that these are new sealed Sam's overstock. My guess is that VIP marked them down to $85 because they have over 1,000 on hand and want to move them out quickly. The hard case lends nicely to keeping a set in the car trunk for travel emergencies.

I believe Craftsman scored better in ProjectFarrm and also TorqueChannel tests.

Same, I got this at Sam's for $99 and thought it was a good set for the work I needed to do. I was later able to snag it for $65 when they clearanced it but that was just dumb luck.

I have this and think it's a great value for the money. The sockets are good enough quality for any homeowner and there's even a decent assortment of deeps. You can often find this at this price or better at Sam's Club.

I live about 75 miles from the nearest Sam's so I don't maintain a membership. This posting opens this set up for anyone to purchase with free delivery, at $15 less than Sam's current price. Looks like 80+ of these have sold since I posted them.

The real issue is the wrenches dont seem to be off set at all so using them could be a problem.in some.instances .

Because they're ratcheting, they have to be used on both sides which eliminates any offset that favors one sided use. Some of the higher end ratcheting wrenches out there have a pivot to allow offset either way.
