I started using this soon after it came put (maybe a couple years ago?), and it's my go-to for interior cleaning and protection now. It doesn't leave a greasy look, just a clean and freshened up version of whatever it was put on. My only comparison is armor all spray/wipes that I had been using for 20 years. I was never terribly impressed with armor all, but it was what people typically used. I like Inside Job much better for protection, ease of use, and finish. It also has a plenty smell that isn't overpowering.

Wasn't Armor All universally dissed for causing cracking over time on interior surfaces? Hopefully this doesn't.

People only use armor all cause it's cheap.

The best all-purpose car cleaner I've found is Mothers VLR [amazon.com] (Vinyl, Leather, Rubber).

It cleans and shines everything I've tried it on beautifully. From car interiors, metal appliances, NES cartridges and vintage game consoles.

Since it contains lanolin (oil derived from sheep wool), I'm guessing VLR should work reasonably well to shine and help prevent rust on small metal machines like lawnmowers and clothes dryers. Fluid Film is also derived from lanolin, so I'm assuming that VLR also shares some rust-preventive properties.

To be fair, I've only been using VLR for about six months, so I can't speak to the long-term effects on more unconventional items like kitchen appliances and plastic retro game cartridges. But so far, I've been impressed. IMO, VLR seems like the one clean-and-shine product that works for almost everything; unless someone wants to chime in and correct me. I'd love to hear other opinions…

There are ingredients known to dry out composites, rubber and leather over long periods of time once soaked into the material. It works great short term, but long term will make your interior fade and crack. By then, you can't prove it to get them to cover the damage which is good enough for them to keep it cheap and let this happen. There is also a study out and report going over this from a 3rd party, Google it. You really do pay for what you get.
