Does it make sense to become a costco member to take advantage of this deal?

If you get their Gold Star tier, then you'd basically be paying close to regular sale price for this unit (~$350 according to current listings). So you would basically be getting a free Gold Star membership but you'd buying it at regular price.

But then there's a Groupon deal that gives you a $20-$40 digital shop card if you purchase a one-year membership:

We got a Midea 12000 BTU dual hose unit for about $260 but it was a refurb that arrived in new condition from Walmart. Free shipping to my door.

Looks like it's $199 shipped right now. I'd just buy this. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Restor...5245460485

If you need heat, the heat pump version is $40 more: https://www.costco.com/.product.4000383733.html

Get the Midea . Very few controls on the front on the Hisense . Remote not much better . Had to use app to turn off eco mode on .. each time ( to keep the fan blowing all the time ).
Main drawback : the compressor is vertical . Causes vibrations each time compressor turnson and off .
The Midea compressor rests horizontally , no vibrations when compressor kicks in and out . The Midea has all controls in front , no need for remote or app . Remote easier to use .
I have both.

Got this last month from Costco and just got an adjustment for $10 back as it was $300 last month. It is rather large, but it works very well. And it has quiet modes that aren't much louder than a general fan on a medium setting.

It is just kinda surprisingly tall so be aware of that. Aesthetically though it looks a bit nicer than some I think and if you really turn it on high it puts out a lot of air.

This is taller and skinnier than others. And heavy. It blows vertically. It has its place. This is a good price for an inverter with dual hose. I was going to get one a few weeks ago when they were on sale but missed it. Ive been checking daily and it popped up yesterday and I got one.

We have a 12kbtu dual hose midea and it works nice too. But it is shorter and wider and the air blows horizontally. I still dont know what to think about the hose-in-hose style dual hose. It is cleaner looking but not that flexible.

It's quieter than similar models without an inverter, but it's still pretty noticeable when it's cranking. It does have a quiet mode which does reduce the operating volume.

It's heavy but not too unruly as you can just wheel it around by the side handles. Overall, I would say the unit performs well and runs efficiently.

My only gripe with the unit is the included window adapter kit... it's horrible. It's just a thin piece of plastic that doesn't fully seal the window as is has tiny openings on the sides. I would get some additional insulation foam and make another barrier behind it to create a better seal and offer some heat insulation from the outside.
