I took this chance considering I can use the device for 11 months as a wifi (until it unlocks) but your use case can vary and this might not be a deal for you YMMV.

As of today, this is by far the lowest price for a new 256gb iPhone 17 that can get unlocked albeit after a year.

As per the current unlock policy for Metro and also past experience, you don't need to keep the service after the first month, phone will still unlock

True, but Apple finally starting with 120hz display and 256gb was the big jump without adding cost. I'm predicting iPhone 18 will cost more.
