Sort of a broader question than specific to this model, but anyone have experience with Bosch espresso machines in general? I've usually had good luck with their products - from dish washers to wiper blades - but have never really considered them in this market. Thanks!

I purchased this machine in December of last year and it's been fantastic. It makes great coffee, the maintenance is minimal, and I love the variety of drinks that you can select. I don't think the machine does a great job with warming milk so I would suggest putting the milk in the microwave for a minute if you prefer milk-based coffee drinks.

It appears the dispenser can be fully disassembled for cleaning.

Did a ton of research lately and the main competitor to this is the Kitchen Aid K7, but that thing creates a terrible cup of coffee compared to this thing. This thing has problems but probably one of the best at making a good strong cup of coffee, about to buy one myself.

*edit*
Ended up ordering it from Costco, if I don't like it, I might return it for a Kitchenaid KF7.

I agree! I bought the Bosch 300 and returned it because if milk not being hot enough, warm at best and the foam ends up being cool

I wonder how often/long Costco will carry these type of oft-returned appliances (ie. superautomatics). Years ago I was on the fence with a Jura model — it was never restocked nor returned to the store nor online.

FWIW — I'm familiar with the Philips/Saeco/Gaggia superautomatics ecosystem, they are regularly returned (ex. directly, Amazon, BestBuy, Williams Sonoma, Sur la Table, SCG, etc).

Just got it delivered and set up wasn't that difficult - appears to make very good drinks. It supposed to clean out the milk tube after every use but didn't notice it. Anyone able to comment/suggest? Do you simply remove the milk tube from the milk container and place it upright on the tray? Thanks!

Edit:
Returning the unit. Attempted to start it this morning and provided the error code E3401. Had to restart it about five times before it finally got up and going. Additionally, the milk is very frothy but not smooth/creamy even with whole milk. Wanted to really like this but unfortunately a no go for me. Thanks for posting the deal!

Regarding your problem I looked up the problem code, and I want to ask, did you remove the tape in the unit? My first guess is probably hose issue, or some sensor that wasn't properly reading causing the error. Regarding the milk tube cleaning, you should clean it when you're done so you don't get a milk build up.

I got mine delivered yesterday, came with a broken water container there which was disappointing but I really wanted to try out the machine so I'll be going through Bosch Warranty support first before trying a Costco return. The broken container caused the start up to take a lot longer since it wouldn't recognize the water tank level until I found the magnet disc and put it back in the tank with the cover on it (both of which was flying around the box). I used some Starbucks Pike Place whole beans which after some initial seasoning of the grinder began to make really good drinks and so far I'm super impressed and so was my wife who is super excited about it. Hoping to keep it vs. returning it.

Also really like the WiFi controls on the app, but I found the Alexa settings a little limiting since it only show the classic drinks, not coffee world drinks. I saw it had IFTTT support, but still need to reconfigure my smart home to get that setup which I suspect will give me finer control such as turning on the coffee cup warmer on a schedule.

Thanks for the response and the suggestion. I did remove the tape and ensured the magnetic part of the tray was set. For the milk tube, does that have to be manually done every time? I was under the impression it would clean itself if it made a drink that required milk. If it has to be manually cleaned, meaning going into the settings to clean it, then it's going to be a hard pass but again, thank you for the suggestion.

Having used many of these superautomatics, the one I preferred the most was Meile's as the interior could be fully cleaned and it cleaned out the milk tube everytime after using it but ended up returning it due to the lack of milk froth/smoothness.

Have had quite a bit more variety of the coffees and really loving the machine so far. I had put about 20 drinks through by friday (nice counter on the software) and that equated to about 40 shots / 12 ounce bag of coffee beans (~$0.20/shot assuming $8/bag, $10.6/lb).

I tested the scenario you mentioned where I turned off the machine right after a milk based drink and it did not run the auto milk cleaning cycle, looks like its a manual step so wish it could be smarter about that. I don't see why they can't make that a software update in the future though as it seems like a simple fix. Hopefully they will make use of WiFi updates as the app is quite feature filled but fairly generic for a wide range of devices.

I also managed to get a hold of Bosch support over the phone (vs. the weak email system) who is graciously sending me a replacement tank and spare water filter for my troubles. Whats interesting in my conversation with the Bosch support (sounded American and knowledgabe about the machines), was that he recommended against distilled and reverse osmois water as it can damage the machines over time. I didn't believe him at first but looking it up, those lack of minerals can (over time) be acidic.
