Talking down to people without knowing what you're talking about and saying people don't need more than 128gb when you bought a 1.5tb one micro sd. Makes no sense, bro. Anyway, modern flagship phones have removed the the expanded memory card slot. Google, Samsung, and Apple all have abandoned the micro sd in favor of forcing you to pay for cloud storage or more money for larger storage.

I wonder if its worth buying this for stashing as a tradein for the pixel 10.
Could be. With trade in and targeted 30% off code last year, I only ended up paying $130 after tax going from pixel 8 pro to 9 pro xl. Very YMMV and who knows about next year. Decent price for the phone regardless
I have the Pixel 8 Pro and waited and waited for a good trade-in deal for a Pixel 9 XL, and it never came (at least that I saw). Only other option, which I've done in the past, is to buy something like this Pixel 9 XL open box at a great price, then have to sell my previous phone on eBay. It's a lot more hassle, but can typically do it for about $300 net cost.

Trade in for p8p has been $699 at the Google site since release until a few months ago, how much more do you expect this to go up? Trade in values usually decrease over time not the other way around. This is a good price even if the plan is to jump into the presale of the pixel 10 assuming the trade in will be around that price (hopefully)

By the time Pixel 10 comes out, Google might give 400 for trade-in.
Could easily lose money doing the previous year's shuffle.
