This is a great deal. I paid ~$150 a few months ago and thought that was a good deal at the time. Gardena is supposed to be one of the better brands but we'll see how it holds up over time.

The bad reviews look terrible for product quality and longevity. Some praised it initially, but returned at a later date to post significant failures even in shade.

Probably this one is what he is referring to.

Not as long, but it is 5/8" which is better than the 1/2" one, but it's also $35 more (maybe cheaper in warehouse).

I've seen it for lower in the warehouse- don't recall the exact $. I think the return flexibility is important for something like this - where quality really matters.

I have the shorter version of this. I love it enough that I'm considering this one for my other yard.
Quality is fine. Well built, not cheap at all.
1/2" is normal for an auto retracting hose (I wish it weren't but it just is). That being said, I've had no issues with a shorter 50' length. I wouldn't wash a car with it, but its fine for gardening.
Not sure about he longevity comments, I've had mine 2 years. Long enough to say it's not junk but not long enough to say it lasts a long time. I do expect it to though.

Dang wish it was the spike mounted one. 5 Year warranty is nice.The mount on the 66 ft one looks a lot better, 115 ft one has a terrible design as you can see in the reviews it breaks, probably because it's double the size.
