It's not hackable since it all comes in 1 box.
OK this answers my question about returning the planer as well. Not individual separate pieces so no hacking.
If you need batteries. I'm finally going to retire some older batteries with this now.

I guess the way I'm looking at it is you can get the same batteries for around $55 with the hack on the other $99 get a free tool deal right now. So paying ~$25 for this planner seems reasonable for what it is.

I contemplated this route. Probably be what I end up doing. Always an option to sell parts off, but it's just an extra step and I'm lazy 😂
