If you're a homeowner looking to paint the exterior of your home, or a wood structure or even do what I wouldn't do, which is spray inside walls in an inhibited bome, buy the X5. There's no need to get the x7 which is basically an X5 made to sit on top of 5gal buckets.. Take good care of the X5 and you can get a few good years out of it until the unserviceable pump fails. But if you're looking at more volume of paint, need more pressure, any sort of cabinetry or just more projects, I'd spend the money on an 210ES or really, for 100 more, on a Graco 390 which is the gateway sprayer towards being a painter or handyman (same internals but better gun).

I could never understand the point of the X7. As a homeowner, I'd rather save some space in the garage and get the x5, I won't be spraying 20 5-gal buckete a day with it that I can't run the little hose up into the bucket and move them together. just my 2c

Good points. I am just a homeowner / woodworker, but I do like painting. I have one of the hand held Graco project painters, and it's pretty good for what it is, but it's either too much or not enough for must projects, I usually just roll and brush.

Someday I would like to have a big, quality sprayer that will last a long time and be relatively easy to clean. Something that I can justify using a lot more often. What do you recommend?

If you are not a painter and you're looking at painting your stucco home, help a few friends, maybe a few pergolas, some cabinets and vanities with low pressure tips and just general use all while taking good care of the sprayer, I'd get a Graco 390 with some good tips (right now they will send you 3 free tips with a purchase or a free replacement pump). Sherwin Williams sold my friend one for 1050 plus tax which is the same price as the the 210ES from Lowe's but a slightly better sprayer with better gun and longer hose.

If you want to do more and put more volume through it, I'd step up to a 395 which is around 1400 or so.

My point is that I hate buying things that I know for a fact that will fail and I won't be able to fix them. That is the case of the X5/X7/x17/x19. But they are cheaper and work well for a regular homeowner. Just don't be upset when they fail or can't run enough pressure or volume. They serve a purpose. But that's why I was saying that the x7 and x19 seem pointless to me because I wouldn't run them for a lot of product as a painter would so then, as a homeowner, I'd look for the x5/x17 because they take up less space.

Some.people.like Titan. I'm sure they are great and to a point somewhat equivalent. But I've always used Graco. In a pinch, you can always rent a nice sprayer for a project. But if you're spraying cabinets, it will get expensive because of the prep before and in between coats. So you'll have to rent one at least 3-5 days assuming that the temp and humidity cooperate. I create a plastic tent in my garage with a fan blowing air in and one blowing air out and a dehumidifier. And i still have to be careful with the conditions. Hope this helps
