I feel like any perpetually outdoor motorized item will very quickly stop being able to move. Has anyone had this for a decent amount of time?
I've had this since it came out going on about 1.5 years and no issues with both of them.
Camera quality is great, love the dual camera and 3x zoom capability but also 1x for wide angle view.
Regarding the solar panel, it's kind of small so unless under ideal conditions, it won't keep the camera battery powered indefinitely. The one I have south facing that gets unobstructed sun for a majority of the day remains fully charged.
The other one I have in a more shaded area under some trees and west facing can't keep up with the discharge, so I end up having to take it down about once a month to recharge (which isn't that bad since it's about the same as my dual camera doorbells so I just do it all at once).
They do give you a cord to extend the panel to not have to be on the camera, but where I have that camera the most sunlight is actually where the camera is anyway.
Overall no complaints, would buy the bundle especially at this price but don't need the doorbell.
I've also had other Eufy pan and tilt outdoor cameras for around 3 years and no issues with the mechanism for movement on 5 of those.

looking for a security system. How does Eufy compare to Ring and others? What do more people recommend?
I went into the Eufy ecosystem a long time ago before the unencrypted streaming thing and what initially sold me on Eufy was the no subscription thing. During the issue a couple of years back, I started to look really into security cameras and crime. Wifi cameras has its place and will work great for 80% of the buyers. 15% will have issues with signal because these things do not reach more than 200 ft (Homebase 3 in the house and a s3 hung on a pole... ask me how I know... lol) and demand outside of it's scope and there are a few Eufy cameras with durability issues. The last 5% of homeowners are the crazy and are willing to dump a good amount of time and money into POE system (or a hybridish system). I'm guilty of this now and went with Reolink cameras and their NVR system. the issue with wifi cameras is how easily it is to build a wifi jammer and all these wireless cameras are just that, another wifi device that can be jammed and you'd never get any notifications of it going offline and your home robbed or anything else. by the time you realize it and go back to your footage and see nothing is when you'd be pissed your dropped serious coin for a system defeated so quickly and easily.I have 5 S3, 6 2c Pro, 3 2c 365, 1 floodlight cam and 3 Homebase 3 (only using 2 for now) across 2 properties. Mind you these older 2c was bought when they first came out because it was supposed to last 365 days (another.... annoyance of these marketing "details"). I'm going to sell it all on eBay when I get all my Reolink up. Why Reolink? For starters, I can manually turn the NVR port on my switch to turn on or off so when I'm home, it's completely off grid. no signals back to China. I'm looking the details of this to do a permanent block, 24/7. And this is not unique to Reolink, don't trust the hype when they say it doesn't send data back to China... they all do because the have to. but back to Reolink... they have a pretty good NVR system for off the shelf and the cameras are pretty good. customer support has been great in getting things done, albeit slower than replacing-it-by-tomorrow standards. I started with their wifi system because at the time, I couldn't run cables on my property, wasn't ready. I got their Home Hub Pro and it was ok. Range was TERRIBLE.... I got their wifi Trackmix, Altas PT, Lumux and E1 Pro indoors. their colorx feature blows anything out of the water when it comes to night clarity. Now I'm at the phase where I can run cables, POE all the way. Home Hub Pro NVR was a nice way of dipping into the Reolink ecosystem without much investment. going to sell that too now I'm going POE. POE is definitely the way to go and with Reolink, no subscription either. this goes for their wifi cameras too; they have a local SD card slot. response of the cameras is so much better than wifi ones (of course) and I don't have to worry about wifi jammers. 16 channel is more than I need but leaves room for expansion if I ever need it (drilling 16 holes to the house would make 1 very pissed off wife). if you're going with Reolink POE system, the Trackmix brings a lot to the table for the cost and effectiveness. The Duo series is definitely a game changer and I've got 3 of them instead of using 6 fixed cameras. I'm still building out some parts but I'm looking to get the cx820 with colorx... it's just so amazing how night time looks with it (I'm out in the country so there's little to no ambient light around me; if you're in the urban area, this might not apply to you as much).this has been a lot but true security, no wifi. each has pros and cons. you're just have to decide which fits your level of comfort best.

Would caution anyone wanting to buy this - if you are thinking of having this camera cover a 270° area of say, your lawn, you are going to be disappointed. it does not cover the whole area by itself. It stays focused in one cone in front of its default position when inactive, and only tilts/pans when it detects something. In other words, it will not automatically sweep the area outside its cone. Does not do that even with HB3. If you have a use case like that (like me wanting to cover 270° field of my 10k sqft backyard) it's better you buy one of their other models which have sentry mode, or whatever it's called. With this cam, you'll have to purchase extra proximity sensors and set up automation using HB3 functions. Adds some cost and complexity, fair warning. It's decent at other stuff tho.
Agreed, this solar cam doesn't have out of camera detection like the other wired outdoor eufy pan and tilt cameras. I assume it has to do with battery life and consumption of constantly running the other sensors needed for that.
While this camera does let you set default positions (left, center, right, etc) it doesn't seem to have an option to regularly "cruise" through them like the wired ones either (again probably battery life related).
If those features are critical for you, I would highly suggest looking at the wired pan and tilt options as they are fantastic (assuming you have a power solution).

Hi, I just wanted to point out that it probably doesn't continuously sweep because it's battery powered.

I have the wired flood light version and it does sweep if you want.

Yes, I have it hardwired. You just attach the two doorbell wires. It also does pre-recording when hardwired.

I've had one mounted for over a year and it still works like new.

I assume you mean to ask how long will the battery last, not how reliable will it operate without failing, right? If so, depending on your settings, the battery will need to be charged roughly every 2 weeks to 3 months. 2 weeks if all the lights and IR lights are on at night and it records a lot of movement every day, or 3 months if it rarely/never detects movement or packages and doesn't have to record more than a few video clips in all that time. In terms of actual reliability I've had mine for 1 month (I chose to hardwire it which trickle charges the battery all the time so I never have to swap batteries) and had to hard reset it by removing the battery and re-syncing it to the HomeBase 1 time because it just froze and wouldn't record anything or let me view a live feed anymore. It works fine now but has only been 3 days since that hard reset so we'll see if that becomes a more common occurrence or not in the future.
