negative, that date is 3 years after manufacture and means they should be inspected to see if they've been stored well. if you'll look at that orange sticker, it's a time/temperature indicator. so long as the middle dot is not darker than the outside ring, they should be perfectly fine to eat. (and some people eat them well past that and don't die)

As others have said, no. It is intended as a "reminder" for quartermasters to inspect them for any sort of damage in order to force rotation.
I have regularly eaten 15 year-old MREs, with never, ever even a hint of a problem. But I store them in the cool basement. Do not ever store them in an attic or garage - heat and time are the enemy. They are OK in high heat for a very short period of time, or low temperature for a very long period of time.
Speaking of low temperature, freezing is not a good thing. The crystals of the ice tend to make little daggers that pierce the container that causes spoilage in a couple of days after it thaws.

i went to their location and picked up pallets in person but everything i've seen shipped is banded and wrapped in a black plastic overwrap
ETA: they also send you a picture of your MREs in the email they send with tracking info, which i've never seen anybody do before

I was pulling the trigger on a case, when it came to payment processing I bailed out. The small (apparently) company does their own payment processing, that's a No-Go for me. I'm PayPal or some reputable third party processor only when it comes to small companies.
They don't do their own. They use stripe.

I think the point being made is that they don't route you to a 3rd party page like you'd normally see with PayPal. The credit card entry screen is still a webpage on their site, so while they may take that and pass it to Stripe for processing, they could technically save that information for their own uses.

I used a virtual card, so a non-issue, really.

this has happened at least once that i know about, the orders did go through on their end but rest assured they'll fix it. here's the direct quote from the guy it happened to, "I'm going to put this in about King Surplus as a recommendation. Had an issue the other day ordering, I'd get to the CC stage and it would reject it, tried three times and then called the number, an actual person answered. Was on hold for maybe 30 seconds and then reconnected. I believe it was the owner itself. Explained the issue, he checked and said for whatever reason their system wasn't showing accepted when it was so I now had three different orders and he'd take care of it. We chatted a bit and hung up. Nice Gent. A few hours later I get a follow up E mail with the two cancelled order numbers stating it was all taken care of and the charges cancelled/reversed. And that ladies and germs, is how customer service should be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 100% KUDO'S to Kings. Best customer service I've had for years!!!!!!! I'd probably be broke if I lived near their stores."
Update: They texted me shortly after I emailed them about the issue and apologized about the problem with the purchase and advised that they had already resolved it and assured me I was only being charged for one case. Very responsive customer service!

Don't die is not to be confused with feeling good

Anyone know if these taste good?

lol they were designed to be sustainable in all climates on all continents for personnel in the field, to be handled by possibly the dumbest people in our country and supplied at the lowest cost bidder - how the hell do you think it tastes?!?!

Also we nicknamed the veggie omelette

You notice they're trying to clear them out to be legal in the sense selling these in bulk some states or some moron will try to raise a lawsuit for selling "expired" food. And this is a state by state thing.
As some of the components such as Poptarts have come in packaged that have manufactured expiration dates but are still fine years later.

They should be solidly good for another year or so. They just start to lose taste when you're going beyond 5 years from date of packing. The military when they do have the budget will always want to rotate these out.

For $40 bucks you buy this for fun if you've never had them before. I wouldn't buy these for actual survival packs. You want longer term stuff or stuff that's fresh and rotated out.And that's $40 shipped. So they're really trying to get rid of these. Shipping alone has to be $10-15 for them. It's a 20 pound package.
