You get updates for 1 year and you have to pay later to get updates.
You get free updates for the next year and after that you would probably have to pay for the latest updates. But that does not mean that the program stops working. You can continue to use it for "lifetime" as is. You just won't get the latest updates.

Perpetual/One Time Payment = including updates for a certain period usually 1 year and you can continue to use as is after that.
It seems that this Laminar Neo offer advanced AI features as an extension and it is a subscription.
So those AI futures will stop after 1 year unless you renew the license.
