the geometry of the screen texture preferentially reflects light that comes from below out towards the viewer and either absorbs or reflects away light coming from other directions (top, sides, front)

It has a physical triangle pattern to reflect light from the projector to the viewer, and absorb ambient light. There are a lot of variations, and some are better than others. So someone will probably correct my simplified answer.

The purpose is to improve contrast (or prevent washout) that has been a common complaint with traditional projectors and screen combinations.

so far so good. it comes with a special paint looking type of brush they want you to use to wipe off dust. I've only needed to use it once.

So does this actually have a directional texture/surface finish to it or is it just a flat low gain screen....?

Can this be used with a regular projector like an Epson 1060 or 1080? The projector would sit at a distance either on a desk or ceiling mounted.
