I've done this for years because my employer provides me a cell phone but I wanted to keep my personal number separate. So I ported it to GV and have the best of both worlds using the same phone. If I leave this company, my GV number is unaffected. It also works great when in a foreign country because you only need a WiFi connection to use your GV service as if you were at home.

10.1 Recovery Fee. The Recovery Fee is assessed by Mint Mobile to help recover Mint Mobile's administrative and certain other costs associated with complying with various federal, state, municipal, local, and other governmental programs, statutes, regulations, taxes, fees, and charges, now in force or enacted in the future.
The Recovery Fee is calculated as a flat, per-plan fee (refer to table below), plus an additional 2.5% of the plan cost which is applied to help recover other administrative fees.

used similar action last year: transferred number promo 3 months (mint) to tello to promo 12 months (mint). I am planning to repeat it again

I've done this for years because my employer provides me a cell phone but I wanted to keep my personal number separate. So I ported it to GV and have the best of both worlds using the same phone. HOWEVER, I have discovered while you can use GV as your permanent number on any accounts on other sites/accounts for authentication etc, accounts like Coinbase doesn't accept GV and requests "real" cell number if it comes to 2F authentication (coinbase system detects VOIP numbers and dont all9w to add to youraccount). It is a great downside for me because I could lose my number due to non']payment or renewal etc, then I am stuck with 2F authentication that they sometimes do on spot.
Also, on another topic, this Mint (TM only) or US Mobile (all major cellular)?
Google Voice is simply a free service where you have your own phone number that you give to everyone. It can run from a phone, tablet and/or computer. You can call and text from that number using only data, and nobody has any idea that it's not your actual phone. The "base number" is your cell phone's actual number that you wouldn't need to use at all, so it wouldn't matter if it changed.

Yes, it's great and there is no threat to your unique number that stays with you forever, no loss to deal with and use it on all your other website accounts for (2A) verification etc.

Just use a Google Voice number for everything, and the base phone number won't matter.
