Because it works on stairs? I don't know I'm not the sales person.

For a first time homeowner would this be a good first ladder or a larger little giant?

I've found that I need an 8ft sometimes and a 6ft sometimes. My home has 8ft ceilings and 9ft ceilings. Outdoors i usually need the 8ft one.

I will rarely use this so one that fits all is best I think.
I also have 8' ceilings and a 2-story atrium. My 6' ladder was just barely sufficient for some use cases, so of course I got a 8' ladder. While it does provide easier access to certain areas, an 8' ladder is _very_ unwieldy under an 8' ceiling. I prefer the 6' these days 😅

Would you recommend a standard 6ft A-frame ladder or this 4-6ft one?

I've never used this type, so I couldn't offer much advice... but if you needed to work on stairs regularly, this collapsible design looks helpful. If you already had a 6' ladder, you could consider getting an 8' one for exterior projects... just wouldn't be easy to use indoors.

Portability is what this ladder is about. Its a 6 foot ladder that fits in your car easily.

There is no magic bullet on ladders for a home. I prefer a composite ladder for interior work because they are lighter to carry around inside a house reducisng risk of digging walls/furniture. Most anal contractors also use composite ladders inside because of that. As for outdoor/garage use, aluminum ladders are preffered because of safety and extension.

I don't have this ladder but will probably get it to supplement a larger Gorilla brand multi ladder. One thing I noticed is the legs/halves of this Little Giant ladder do not extend 180 degrees from each other at the hinge, so people asking what this ladder can do "in the A position" are missing that detail.

Own several ladders and this is by far my favorite. The wide platform steps with the sturdy tray at the top and stability make it so. It is a bit heavy and the price has almost doubled since I bought it.

I got one of these at a liquidation store for 12 bucks, its great. Well built, multiple uses, nice to have.
Absolutely not worth 90 bucks. Buy a step ladder/A-frame/multi position ladder for that price or cheaper.
There is absolutely no way you bought this ladder for $12.

There is, we have several liquidation places here that sell amazon/Costco returns. Anything that's broken they toss in large bins at specific prices. In this case they had 3 broken ones in the bin and they assumed the 4th, the one I bought, was broken too. It wasn't, they just didn't bother checking.
It's a great ladder, but I wouldn't recommend it at any price over 50 bucks.
