The legend of Zelda released on NES in 1987 for $50. That is nearly $140 in today's dollars.
inflation exists. Going into every post on SD whining about it won't fix it

Lots of Nintendo 64 games were $60 back in the late 90's, ya'll forget

The entire game is on the game cart, so... not sure what point you're trying to make here.

OOS on both Amazon and Costco (hitting add to cart switches to a gray button)

edit: back in stock at Costco, had to re-type in my membership number.

I don't know who's trying to die and on what hill, but what I do know is that people in this thread are too loose with numbers and English. $7 dollars off a $70 game, that is, 10% off, is a significant price reduction. That is, provided you have a paid Costco membership. Sure, that's a slick deal.

I don't know if people are thinking this game is going to be scarce (hint: it's not), or if they literally don't understand numbers, but I'm fairly confident I can get this for a better price within a week from launch, if not pre/at launch, simply because a $7 reduction is next to nothing. But you guys can rush to lock in your significant savings.
I'm not sure that people should be buying this because BlueDesk535 is about to find this exact game at a cheaper price. He told everyone that it would be easy, so I expect him to deliver any day now...

Thank you for pointing that out.

Not to mention the amount of time and resources required to develop modern games compared to the old.

For example GTA6 has estimated cost of 1.5 billion. The same cost as Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world.

Tried price matching twice the other day and again this morning with Best Buy chat support (unfortunately right after Amazon went OOS).

All 3 agents said the Costco price is "for paid members only" so they have no way of seeing it and won't honor the price, but that I'm welcome to go to a Best Buy store and request the price match there showing the price on my phone.

To be fair, there are some ways that you could get it cheaper if you plan ahead. That's not what he's saying though and most people won't have the patience to do this, but...

15% off - GameStop gift card at Dollar General (during their sales, stock up)
~2% Cash back - from using a credit card to buy the gift card (if applicable at your DG)
$5 off - Monthly reward at GameStop (membership can often be had for $15 a year)
2% GameStop reward points (for buying at GameStop while having a membership)

That's the equivalent of around 26% savings/rewards without any other sales or promotions going on. Again, most people won't have the foresight, but the deal is there for those who do. That would make this about $52.
