I'm not saying this is a bad deal. However, why would someone purchase one of these over an actual 12V fridge/Freezer that has a compressor and can quickly cool to Fridge/freezer temperatures, rather than just 40°F below ambient temperature?

Problem is these draw a ton of power (~80 watts) continuous and provide very little actual cooling.

12V fridges with compressors are a tad bigger than this, cost roughly $100, and are far far more efficient. This thing wastes battery power like no tomorrow, better keep the car running if you use this.
