This is an amazing deal on a good mid level bike. It is perfect for someone looking to make the jump form a cheap walmart bike to a full suspension. The deore group set really doesn't need to be upgraded and is very capable. I would say the one thing lacking is the fork but that can be upgraded down the line as well. The wheels are on the heavier side as well, but you would be paying an extra $1.5K for a bike with better wheels and fork. I am super tempted to get the bike but as is the case with many other mountain bikers, I already have too many bikes.

I got this bike two years ago for like thousand dollars more, and I have to say it's a great all rounder bike, you can pedal it up hike and it rips downhill, you can do natural trails even bike parks, the only difference I got the upgraded version with fox suspension and SLX Shimano group set and brakes, so I can't speak personally with this RockShox sus and deore components, but seems capable enough.

Jenson USA has some great sales on forks right now and Deore is just about as good as slx but a bit heavier. Personally, I would upgrade the fork and the shifter to the XT shifter since it has the double upshift feature you don't get with SLX and Deore and then it will be equivalent to bikes a lot more expensive.

Yeah this exact model with and upgrade fork it's still a steal, yeah deore is just fine I would upgrade the jockey wheels to XT ones because the bearings are pressed instead of the simple ones of deore and SLX that's what I did with mine and it's a huge difference for only $20, also what do you mean double upshift? It upshifts two times or shifts either way you pressed it?
