I got one about a week ago from Walmart as a Wi-Fi only phone. It's Wi-Fi 5 and 4G only. You have to update it to Android 14 which is the last version update it'll get. It uses 2gb of Ram Boost by default. I just left that setting as is. The only apps you really have to keep are Moto and Device Pulse. All the other bloatware can be disabled or uninstalled. The phone is fast and the battery lasts a long time. I don't turn it off. I wouldn't use it as a main phone but as a backup for Wi-Fi only and other tasks, it's good and fast.
If you have a phone farm for various DePin projects or whatever else, this phone is suitable. My only complaint is the fingerprint sensor is located too high up. Other than that, the sensor is fast. The speaker is loud. The phone doesn't freeze up or close apps when confronted with too many apps being open or when playing music. But don't push it, obviously.

You are talking about two different things. You can no longer do a COMBINE when you have two active lines and need customer service to combine them to one line. You can still do a HARVEST when there is only ever one active line. You activate the new device with a transfer of service clicking on "keep my number" and everything moves from you current line with the year of service/minutes/texts/data added on. Then, you can repeat the process moving back to the original device (either immediately or after 60 days if you want to ensure the unlock). A harvest can be done entirely online without involving customer service.

I can't believe you can buy a brand new decent smartphone for $25. Whatta time to be alive. Too bad I can't think of a reason to get this.

If you stack the 2 years, doesn't that mean that the second phone will not be unlocked?
See quoted posts, below.

If you do it right away, yes. Activate the first-keep my number, wait for it to unlock. Activate the second-keep my number, wait for it to unlock. Stacked and both unlocked.

Wait 60 days for the phone to unlock, and then activate the second phone, keeping your number. Then you have added another year. Sell the unlocked phone. Or save it in case your kid breaks/drops one.

Does QVC still cancel the orders and demand you the proof if identity? Last time they had me call in and say we dont have a person named you living at that address in our records...

Do you use a single email account or two email accounts on Tracfone for this?

When I tried to Keep my Number, it was asking me to enter my prepaid plan id or buy a new plan. I ended up activating it as a 2nd line and then calling CS to combine. What did I do wrong for harvesting?

This is new to me. Do you have proof or reference? I want to harvest the minutes and data only and unlock the phone for other carriers (not resell)
this is true. they can no longer merge them after being bought out by verizon, its documented on howard forums https://www.howardforums.com/thre...s.1927519/

New customer is by email address. That's it. If you have a Gmail account with [email protected], create another account with [email protected]
They use payment method, address, names, and email addresses to verify if you are a new customer, they are one of the strictest I've ever seen and will cancel orders if you try to make a new account

I haven't ordered since May '22, also a G Play (2021). Any chances?
If they have the email on file (or the card) - chances are they'll disallow. Easy enough to set up a new email, and add a new virtual card with Privacy; that makes your chances a lot higher.

Tempted to buy them to play emulators on them. Probably can play up to some PSP games, which is amazing for $25 a piece. Also works as GPS if you download the maps, MP3 player, and much more.
PPSSPP works great. Limited upscaling in some games but with a 720p display, 2x looks just fine. Also handles lighter PS2 and Vita games.

You definitely need a microSD card though.

Didn't Tracfone disable service plans from being transferrable to another phone, and the min/txt/data is now bound exclusively to the phone on which they are originally assigned?
I believe that's only for combining 2 active lines/phone numbers.

If you do it during activation with "Keep your number", the min/txt/data still combine.

You're supposed to activate the new phone on the same account as the original number you're keeping if you want to harvest.

(in before everyone tries to justify this with "but I only use a phone for THIS or THAT for SO LITTLE".

The worst part is that it's loaded to the gills with bloatware and spyware. Some stuff you can't clean out either, at most you might be able to disable the software from running. And the carrier can "push" new applications to your device -- so even after you de-junk-ify it, you'll find more bloatware like casino games, birds in need of therapy, and anti-social networks from time to time. It's obnoxious.
I'm open to suggestions for a cheap, WiFi-only Android device. It doesn't have to be a phone.

Once received, how long can you wait to activate/set up service? Weeks, Months, a year?

This is absolutely true, just realize it might take a dozen hours of customer service engagement to get the phones functional, or unlocked. I jumped on a previous deal like this and regretted the time sink it became. A risk with any carrier, but Tracfone was particularly challenging.

I think in fine print somewhere it says within a year but I've activated them longer than that but it was before Verizon buyout
