Wouldn't cast iron take forever to cool down and heat up though? I agree this isn't really retro but I could see major cons of cast iron. I think that material made sense before electricity though as you'd want it to retain heat but if you are doing a bunch of ironing of different materials I'd rather it cool and heat quickly.

I believe they're thinking of the non-electric variety that you would leave on a wood stove to heat up.
That exact model might be retro enough for them.
