Xm4 the best bet? People seem to favor those over the newer models.

I have the xm4, my wife has xm5, and I recently upgraded to xm6. The xm6 are noticeably better in every way. I did not think xm5 was a huge upgrade from xm4 and was disappointed in noise canceling being potentially worse in some situations. You can see online many people reflect my sentiments and thus recommend the xm4s for their value. But if you can afford it, you will not regret the xm6. I have bought many pairs of headphones from secondipity and have never had an issue.

I would say the XM6s are a return to form now. Between the 4 and 5 maybe most would pick the 4

Bought these from their eBay store a week or two ago for $325 with tax/shipping. Couldn't tell they weren't brand new. No problems buying refurbs here.

I was thinking of getting an XM6 to replace my XM3 since the earpads and headband are almost worn out. That affected its noise canceling abilities. I've recently found out that I can replace both of them for under 50 bucks on Amazon. Restored its noise canceling functionalities and no problems so far. Hoping for it to last a few more years since I've had it since 2019.

is it difficult to return directly to secendipty?
Very difficult. I returned my xm6 I bought from Secondipity during prime day, as the headphones reeked of smoke and it was nasty AF.

Been 2 weeks since return was received by them - status showing "returned". No refund. Sent emails and submitted requests - not a peep from their customer service. Charge is still on my card. I'm thinking about disputing now.

I am more or less in the same boat. Tempted to get both, to be honest, but might hold off on the XM6 until Black Friday.
Have both (and QC 45 and QC Ultra) and XM5.

Hands down the XM6s are the best headphones i've used.

I had the XM4 and they stopped working after 1.5 years. They'd never been dropped or roughed around, but the left ear started randomly screeching painfully loud (it was a health/safety issue honestly) and later the right ear could only play 10% as loud as the left. Sony completely ghosted me when I reached out for a repair. I don't think I'll buy another pair of high-end Sony headphones after that.

I've had the XM4s and pretty much every flavor of the QC. Just got a pair or APMs. The XM4s were OK, but nothing spectacular. QC Ultra were great for travel, but all Bose bands and cups are too tight on my head and ears. I tried on both the XM5 and XM6 at Best Buy and they seemed a bit more comfortable, but if I'm going to get either, I'm going to go with rtings' reviews and get the 6.

Heads up on this seller:
I bought the recent refurb XM5 earbuds from this seller. About a week after receiving them they stopped working. I started the return process and the seller accepted the return. The following day I was in an accident and ended up in the hospital almost 3 weeks. By the time I was released and was capable of getting around on my own, the return window had expired (by 5 days). I explained the situation to the seller but he refused to accept the return. So I had to eat the cost on a bad product. Just sharing my experience with others.

Bro no offense your accident was not their fault, i am not a fan of secondipity but they are allowed to adhere to their rules.
I also almost guarantee if you sent it in time they would still find a reason to deny your return!

The Apple Max blown me away but I can't cope with the "get the apple ecosystem" thing.

Have you had a chance to compare the big 3 of high end bluetooth headphones in the Bathys/5909/PX8? I have them and also an XM4 and the sound quality on the XM4 is god awful in comparison. Having said that, the NC on the Sony is miles better than anything from the three mentioned. If the XM6 is a noticeable improvement in sound I might make the jump.

If you're not in the ecosystem already, it feels kinda silly to start with a pair of premium headphones. But if you have at least an iPhone and an iPad, it makes sense.

That's the point - they have run the same prices in both stores before, most notably on Black Friday last year.
Yes. Seems something is not right given the price difference between secondipity website and their eBay store. I have bought from their eBay store and more comfortable with that.
I suspect that some of these headsets might not be good enough for 2 year warranty commitment. If half the customers don't figure the problem in 90 days or problem doesn't recur in 90 days, it will work out well for the seller.
It could also be that they are promoting their website but more difficult to see this as the reason.
