Nice little starter desktop if you just need a bare minimum futureproof desktop. Not a super duper Hi-Perf machine, but some expansion possible. !st post so don't hate .

Are you sure this is expandable? HP been using proprietary PSU, motherboard, Case and lately, even GPU, meaning you cannot swap it or use anything else that HP didn't build for it, standard components don't fit since case and PSU have non standard size and connectors. Just by looking at the back doesn't seem to have standardize components.

It the specifications it says it has a PCI 16 slot. 2 m2, but it doesn't mention psu.
If it's barebones, I can't imagine outside of maybe the mobo and psu it's that crazy, since you have to put ram in yourself.

The HP website for this model takes you to this page.

There is an official teardown and repair video for these models here.

Says it is a platinum rated power supply, which is surprising. But, if there's another more accurate page, I couldn't find it.

It has 2 memory slots up to 32? gb (2 x 16) and a spare pci slot. If you eliminate the wireless/ bluetooth module I believe you can add a compact ssd module. I also believe It has a sata port on mobo and have seen a possibility there may be a 400 or 500 watt psu that can be swapped from another HP model (possibly ebay part outs). I bought this because my 84 yo mom needed a basic internet / browser machine. After comparing similar HP costco and walmart models this beat their prices substantially. It is about the cheapest barebones big name sff desktop I could find. It has built in 780 graphics with hdmi and display ports. It runs pretty quiet and is feather light (all aluminum? case) . No glass. No lightshow. Gets the job done. I actually bought a second one when I had a pop-up on bestbuy's page offering an additiona $50 off for a 24 hour period so it was actually $619 before il rape tax of 10% for a total of 681 out the door yesterday (Friday 7/25)

"Barebones desktop" is confusing. A barebone PC is a pre-built, partial, not-yet functional PC, usually with a motherboard and a CPU at the minimum which needs to be finished by the buyer by adding whatever is missing (like RAM, PSU, SSD etc.). This is a fully built, completed and functional PC which can be used out of the box.

I posted it that way because I didn't want people to expect too much. There are a lot of gamers and heavy app users that might poo poo this because it is NOT an AI server farm. re-visited the site today and there's a blurb that says ,"Deal ends tomorrow" .

They will do that regardless. Just post without commentary in the title next time. Put your comments in the body or first post. Barebones is a pretty specific term. Personally, I would call this type of PC as basic usage or general usage. Check emails, office suite (Word, Excel), and social media.
