That being said, I am using some 'Toshiba' non-4k, non smart LED tv that was a black friday special many moons ago purchased around the time others took over manufacturing, and I'm still using it today.

rebirth with yes a different manufacturer. What they should do is look at the discount you got when it was purchased and try to give you a good deal instead of not trying to fix it. Why make a product that has such a short shelf life? It's almost a marketing scam as that model had a very high within two years fail rate. I looked it up.
I looked at this unit in the store. It was missing a remote and a power cord so I passed. A lot of one star complaints of unhappy owners barely getting one year. I ended up going with the 65" new TCL for $348 at Wally's. Had significantly better reviews. Nice and light at 27 pounds. Most of the one star complaints were about the screen getting cracked during shipping. Mine arrived no problems and the sound is an upgrade from the nine-year-old LG plasma it replaces
