My experience with Toshiba's American rebirth was not good. It was a few years ago so maybe they improved. I bought a 49 inch at Best Buy and took the insurance. It only lasted 18 months and I was expecting them to fix the set. It was then I learned they just give you back what you paid. You're then stuck without a TV so I had to add money to buy a new set I wasn't then planning on buying. The picture and sound then were surprisingly good but 18 months?

They are clearing it at $299 if you want new. Honestly, that's what I would do, who buys "Fair" condition?

What 'rebirth'? Toshiba sold off or ended all their consumer-facing product lines over a decade ago. Anything 'Toshiba' now that you see on store shelves is made by someone else.

That being said, I am using some 'Toshiba' non-4k, non smart LED tv that was a black friday special many moons ago purchased around the time others took over manufacturing, and I'm still using it today.

...if there are no parts available/it isn't cost effective to fix, then what do you expect? they arent going to just give you a new TV from a different brand...

rebirth with yes a different manufacturer. What they should do is look at the discount you got when it was purchased and try to give you a good deal instead of not trying to fix it. Why make a product that has such a short shelf life? It's almost a marketing scam as that model had a very high within two years fail rate. I looked it up.

Many new TV built today are not built to last, I see tv,s thrown into dumpster often. For that reason I purchased 42" Panasonic plasma TV 6 years ago at thrift store for 9.95 and remote for 2.45 (same thrift store) Works hours every day and TV was made in 2007. It's not a Fire TV but I don't have fire in my wallet for price paid.

100% these TVs are not built to last. Same with refrigerators

I looked at this unit in the store. It was missing a remote and a power cord so I passed. A lot of one star complaints of unhappy owners barely getting one year. I ended up going with the 65" new TCL for $348 at Wally's. Had significantly better reviews. Nice and light at 27 pounds. Most of the one star complaints were about the screen getting cracked during shipping. Mine arrived no problems and the sound is an upgrade from the nine-year-old LG plasma it replaces
