they were probably trolling ... this is a $1700 laptop that was probably supposed to be on sale for $700 off ... and someone put the wrong price in. Lowest I've seen for a laptop with these specs is about $1100-1200

I might be talking out of my rear, but I feel like we are going to see more and more of this. Even on high end machines. LPDDR5x offers speeds even faster than what full-size desktop DIMMs can. With traditional workloads, slower RAM was usually a good place to save a bit of money. But with the push towards AI, any RAM used by a GPU or NPU greatly benefits from faster speeds.

I doubt it will ever materialize, but I'd love to see motherboards with hybrid approach. Super-fast RAM soldiered onboard. But also a pair of traditional DIMM slots available for expansion. And from there, have they system prioritize the faster RAM for things like foreground applications and GPU/NPU workloads. Alternatively, maybe things will shift so that some NVMe drives are fast enough to pick up the slack and page/swap files are more useful.

Sorry for the rambling...
