They say it's not accurate enough to use for engine block head bolts... I wonder if that's true. Anyone know?

I wouldn't trust these for anything heavy duty. Specially with the heads high torque specs. These are handy for light duties applications.

That's false if these are installed properly. The stainless steel in the coil is stronger than the original threads. There's aircraft applications in materials like aluminum that have to have helicoils installed during manufacturing.

Every diy guy should watch this channel, amazing stuff.

I never new these thread repair kits existed, I can't recall a time when I might have needed one, but good to know they exist.

There will be times in your life that threads are stripped on a high value, or irreplaceable part.

For instance, if the oil plug is stripped in the aluminum on your Jet Ski, the Heli-Coil is going to be stronger than the original threads. Or if the mount on your cast iron table saw strips, or the gear insert on the worm drive for your garage door opener....Once you know they exist, they will save you much time and $$$$

Not strong enough for torquing a head bolt. Bad idea to use this.

Remember Heli-coils and Perma-coils are stronger than a Grade 8 bolt.... even stronger than Time-sert threads.

It's fun watching decades of "common knowledge" get blown away when actually tested.
