10% off retail price, first notable sale of these titles I believe for the physical game cards:

https://electronics.woot.com/offe...cnt_wp_1_2
https://electronics.woot.com/offe...cnt_wp_1_3
https://electronics.woot.com/offe...cnt_wp_1_1

Not an amazing deal but if you want to buy these games and want them physical, this is the first I've seen. Free shipping if you have Prime.

$80 a game is just crazy. Especially for games that out years ago.

I would have forgiven the price of Switch 2 version of breath of the wild if it included the DLC. The price they are asking was bonkers; it would hav emade more sense to drop the price of the switch 1 Zelda games by $10 and put the switch 2 games at the old price.

It was 70 msrp, not 80, TOTK is $80... which is still ridiculous.

I`m out of games for a couple years, but and i`m schock that a nintendo game can gost 80 dollars. Surreal!
yeah, games jumped from $60 to $80 pretty dang quick. Other companies tried to push for $80, like outer worlds 2, but got shot down pretty hard and had to pull back. With Nintendo we just expect it.

This is what I did. I found a deal for TotK for $40, + $9.99 for the upgrade is way cheaper than the switch 2 version. Best i found for BotW was $54, but + $9.99 is still cheaper than the switch 2 version. I'm still happy, saved a little through this path. I don't have the tiem to play online much, so I skipped NSO, at least for now
I found them on facebook marketplace pretty often. It was one of the top selling games for switch so likely there's copies floating around, no need to buy new.

Only two games are $80. So far, it's yet to be seen how MKW does on it's own, since it's a no-brainer at net $50 with the bundle (personally don't see it selling well at $80). Tears of The Kingdom was $70 already, and the Switch 2 upgrade is $10 if you own the Switch version, so I believe that's how they've arrived at $80 for the Switch 2 version. It's crap, but they've been selling at $70 anyways, so Nintendo feels free to keep the MSRP high. I can't fault them when they have the most iconic IPs in gaming history.

Have you been sleeping through the time period when games were $70 on the current gen? https://www.bestbuy.com/site/play...7395108347

I also wouldn't consider 8 years 'pretty dang quick.'

Considering the PS5 came out 5 years ago I wouldn't consider it 8 years that it's been $70. Also, a lot of games in the PS5 world are $60 still. Not all jumped to the $70 bandwagon.

It's been 8 years since the Switch 1 came out, games were $60 back then. Plenty of games have been $70 since the PS5 came out, that's 5 years. ToTk was $70 upon release. So you saying the jump from $60 to $80 happening quickly doesn't make sense, especially since most games are not $80 anyways.

Sorry it doesn't make sense to you, games saw $60 since 1996 when the N64 came out (1993 if you count the Jaguar and even some SNES games like FF6) and were that price until the PS5 came out in 2020, so for 24 years they were $60, then they were $70 for only 5 years and now games are coming out at $80. So the $10 leap went from 24 years to just 5 years all within the same console generation... so yeah... that feels pretty sudden.
We can disagree and that's cool.

Ok well if we want to split hairs - $60 for a video game in 1996 is the equivalent of $123 today ($133 for those Jaguar and few SNES games). So in reality, if video games remained $60 for 24 years, that means they have been continually costing the consumer less money every year.

In fact, games that were $60 in 2017 when the Switch released, are the equivalent of spending $78.43 today. So even though only TWO games have released at $80 for the Switch 2, you're really only spending about what you did in 2017 when they were released. If you're buying a brand new game for anything less than $80, you're getting it for even less than you did back in 2017. And either way, you're getting a bargain compared to what you paid in the 90s!

It's not sudden - we're just in the hellish post-COVID landscape, where the average rent is $2400/month and the average car payment is $1k a month.

I am not opposed to the price increase, but "all of a sudden" is a factor of time, that they raised the price and then raised it again shortly after. Not really splitting hairs, just talking about how the price increase happened as a reference of time.

I get how inflation works and not even mad about the price bump (because I never buy games new), but I would still say that in one console generation we saw the price go up $10 TWICE when it didn't go up in the past 4 console generations... that's all.

I'm sorry that you are having trouble understanding why that feels sudden to some, I think we are just gonna have to agree to disagree on this one.
