18% more $$$ for 18% more FPS is a good deal for the B580. If you need to make a budget, okay.

this is a great price if this is what you need. I paid this much for a used one off ebay a month ago after carefully monitoring prices for awhile waiting for it to drop below 250

This comes out to $12.88 per 4k frame per second in a tom's hardware test suite of modern games. Outside of nVidia's 2 top performers, this is the worst bang for the buck on the list.
B580 someone lists above at $259 is ~50% faster at 4k and comes in at $10.36 per 4k frame per second. That is about the lowest price per FPS there is in the market now.
Most people will be using these kinds of cards on 1440p and 1080p, but 4K indicates what the card is truly capable of.

And it's from Onix, a sister company to Sapphire.

Probably meaningless to everyone but seems if you think experimenting with local AI is in your future stick to Nvidia. I've got the pre gen ARC and it's basically a nonstarter on AI. It can probably be done but nvidia has the market cornered

I'm sure someone out there knows vastly more than i do and will share in verbose detail why I'm wrong.

Any advice on a GPU that can run local LLMs and doesn't break bank or goes in sale ?

You probably want to stick with Nvidia for LLMs. It really depends on your specific use case, but I would look into some rtx 3060s if you want to keep it cheap.

The 12gb 580 seems like a much better deal, even at $40 more. Though due to compatibility i might wait and see if a 9060 GRE is coming out.

Why can't it be a brother company? And are the sisters twins? Did they ever kiss? These are the important questions.

How are the metric on 1440p does the data scale 1:1 upwards in terms of fps. Been out of the video card game for too long and looking for best bang budget friendly so the 580 might fit the bill

First off this is not a 4k card, who cares the frame value at 4k when you are topping out at 25 fps on new games, praying to the upscaling gods to help. It is comparable to a 7600 or 4060 with the benefit of more vram.

It is a very solid 1080/1440 card though. All the other cards in this price range offer 8 gigs of vram, that is not even sufficient at 1080 anymore.
