I love the look of the 997, but even the made in USA 997 is very uncomfortable. Sole is heavy, feels like you're walking on wood planks. I thought it was just me and the NB employee echoed a similar sentiment, urging me to try them on before buying them. I imagine the 997R is even worse.

These are narrow fitting and have very basic cushioning … kind of a McShoe that's not worth the $50 price.

I have the 997H and like them but I don't walk miles in them either just kick around town but they are comfy for that.
