my kid's been asking for a icemachine for a while. the msrp on this suggests that this is a really good one but the reviews (i looked on costco and amzon) are worrisome. is it just a case of unrealistic expectation and/or user error? (many folks mention a filter problem while some say it just stopped working within a year)

costco also sells a cheaper frigidaire which i could easily return for a refund if it conks out…so i'm waffling a bit

Any idea if RO/Reverse Osmosis water can be used the same way Distilled can? I have an RO setup and that would make it easy. Debating if $170 is worth the hassle. I've always wanted one of these and the price seems reasonable. Anyone know how the Frigidaire Costco one works in comparison? I know Opal is the OG in this game.

3. Flush the system
4. Fill water area with clean water and dump 2 "Tumbler Water Bottle Cleaning Tablets" let it sit for 30 minutes and then run a few cleanings cycles
5. Clean the water area with clean water and "Holikme Bottle Brush Tube Cleaning Lab Set with Long Handle"
6. run a few clean cycles with fresh water and done

ALSO BONUS TIP ...
