This sounds obvious, but still worth saying. Make sure your device supports hdmi over usb-c before you spring for one of these. I got one and was disappointed to learn neither my Samsung tablet, phone, or Moto phone worked with it. The phones didn't shock me too much, but I thought the tablet would. Nope, only certain models.

It did work with a Lenovo laptop that lacks a hdmi port, so that is something. I'd just rather take the tablet on trips for movies etc than haul a laptop.

Which tablet? I have used an S9 Ultra tab and it works, ans previously did use an S7 tab and have been able to show the display on TVs

Any iPhone that has USB-C supports it, I'm sure all the USB-C tablets do as well... they will only clone the screen (it supports rotation so you can go wide) it won't act as a 2nd additional monitor.
