This sounds obvious, but still worth saying. Make sure your device supports hdmi over usb-c before you spring for one of these. I got one and was disappointed to learn neither my Samsung tablet, phone, or Moto phone worked with it. The phones didn't shock me too much, but I thought the tablet would. Nope, only certain models.

It did work with a Lenovo laptop that lacks a hdmi port, so that is something. I'd just rather take the tablet on trips for movies etc than haul a laptop.

Which tablet? I have used an S9 Ultra tab and it works, ans previously did use an S7 tab and have been able to show the display on TVs

only high end devices tend to support usbc to hdmi. For samsung, only the S series support it. For Google, only the non A series. And iPhone im not sure.edit: it seems pixel 9a supports it. Hopefully this becomes the norm
