$50/mo is their lowest plan at totalwireless. And you would need 2 months.

You're posting incorrect information - please read the current unlock policy which changed in April and edit your posts so new users don't get the wrong info.

This changed in April. Now you need to have purchased 60 days or more of service. 30 won't cut it anymore. Also I don't believe there's a $10 option anymore for activating a new device. Their plans start at 15 for the first month then 10 afterwards for autopay.

You aren't activating a BYOD you're trying to activate a locked branded TF/TW/ST model - try it as if activating a normal Tracfone & see if it works. If it still won't accept imei call support and have them manually rebrand it from TW to TF.
Thanks, it worked. I see $15 as the cheapest Tracfone service plan to add — is that correct?

The cheapest for unlock purpose (and rewards points to vest) is the $19.99 90-day 60/60/60 plan. You can find the plan at Target [target.com] (not needed, but you can get a Tracfone starter SIM kit for free by 8/30).

I bought two of these phones, one for my grandfather and nephew

hopefully I get. a. rep who knows how to rebrand to Tracfone

They also have a 500min/1000txt/500mb 60-day plan for $25. Then after the 60 days they get 5000 referral points, which can be used for 4 more months of that same 500/1000/500 service.

I've had 2 different reps rebrand mine, and both knew right away what i wanted & what to do. They were online chats, not phone.

Link? That looks like a good deal. $50/yr for 500min/1000txt/500mb.
edit...
I see the plan but not the free points?

Yes, 1 SIM kit free with each $20 plan. Buy 2x $20 plans and get 2 SIM kits free. (you don't need the kits though. After rebranding to TF, Simply use the SIM that came with the phone.)

The 60-day plan is good for unlock, but not for rewards points to vest (pending points disappear if the line becomes inactive on day 61).

The rewards points require 61 days to vest. If you activate the phone with a $25 60-day plan, the pending points will disappear when the line becomes inactive on day 61. Activate the phone with $20 90-day plan, then use rewards points on phone discount code or service extensions (currently you get 200 for joining the program plus 5K with a referral. You'll also get 500 points after 3 months).

Yes, you can redeem points for phone discount codes (regularly 6K for a $50 off code, 11K for $100 off, 14K for $150 off, 17K for $200 off and 20K for $300 off. Currently on promo 20% off. I just redeemed 16K points for a $300 off code.)

Dammit.

I activated late March for $15/1gb/30days. Then got a free month 1gb for getting referred by my other phone. Then i let it lapse, thinking that was my 60 days & i could unlock & cash in my pending points. Wrong. I reactivated a week later on the $15 1gb again, then was able to unlock & my pending points became vested. I think they made me wait til the end of the second paid period, unlike some people reporting it unlocks during the 2nd month, as long as 60 days has lapsed.

So i'm not sure about the points disappearing, but if i had to do it over, i wouldn't have taken a chance.

It would be $50 for 4 months, not a year (60days each plan).

Crazy8's 90day deal is better, for the point referral gimmick.

Okay someone please tell me if this will work?
1. Buy this deal via BB with TW
2. Get phone/sim rebranded to TF by calling customer support
3. Buy the 90 day service from target for $20
4. Phone should be unlocked after 60/61 days of TF service?

Total cost - $50

that's what I just did
I got my phone delivered today and rebranded it to tracfone via chat
you have to give them the imei and sim id number

after they rebrand it, activate it via the tracfone site and use the PIN that target gives you to load up the $20 plan
