I couldn't hit 40mph going down hill.
The average speed of Tour De France cyclists is 25 to 28mph.
For anyone to suggest a cyclist does this on a sidewalk where people are walking is homicidally insane and then to suggest that children do this on the regular is just someone making shit up.
Any accident where kid gets hits by a car shows me that the motor vehicle owner is the one that does not grasp what they are doing. If you do not see kid on a bike it can be an accident I guess in rare cases but most law everywhere puts a extremely high burden on the motor vehicle operator as they are the party that chooses to hit the road in large and heavy vehicles that may be used by both bike riders and people that walk.
The responsibility is on you if you hit something thing in front of you even if it is unexpected. In most all cases where kids dart out between cars the driver is still held responsible.
You are talking about more laws for other people yet seem aw unaware of existing ones that apply to you. Slow down if you see bikes or pedestrians would be my advise. That have as much right ot be out as you do.
Car drivers as class cause so much death and mayhem it is almost unbelievable. I am not calling for you to be stopped from using publics roads. Maybe you could give the same courtesy to other drivers, kids on bikes and kids as pedestrians.
Don't get angry when on the road when you see kids on bikes just slow down and be more cautious. That way you may not kill somebody and you will still get where you are going. That is crazy angry old man stuff that you must fight against as it can get someone hurt. Those kind of thoughts distract
Maybe we do need some public information campaign to make sure more car owners are aware of the responsibilities they have and what you seem to have missed or forgot.
The vast majority of accidents in which a child is struck are due to the negligence of a driver. Even when an error or small lapse of judgment may have occurred on the part of the child, most drivers will be held responsible for the injuries and accidents they have caused. This is because drivers must exercise greater care when driving a vehicle near children or when children are potentially in the area. Most pedestrian accidents with children could have been avoided if the driver had not acted negligently.
Common causes of child pedestrian accidents include:
Distracted driving
Speeding
Driving under the influence
Reckless driving
Dangerous maneuvers
Violation of traffic laws
Where Do Most Child Pedestrian Accidents Happen?
Most people would assume that pedestrian accidents with children occur in high-risk areas and busy intersections. The truth is that the majority of child pedestrian accidents occur in the places where children are likely to feel safest: their schools, driveways, and neighborhoods. Even with safeguards such as speed bumps, posted speed limits, and other safety measures, reckless drivers are still a risk. Anyone who exceeds the speed limit, drives distracted, or fails to yield to crossing guards and posted signs poses a danger to the children within a community.
Examples of the locations where a child is susceptible to being struck by a vehicle include:
During the walk to or from school
Travel to and from their bus stop
The driveway of a home
Neighborhood streets
Close to playgrounds or parks
In parking lots

I do see drivers angry and suggesting that bike riders should not be on the roads and wonder if that false idea and anger they seem to have is not a recipe for disaster that can directly lead to accident. I do see one story in all the nation where someone was killed by getting hit by an ebike yet we have a thousand or more cyclists hit and killed by a cars.
If you first thought when you see a cyclist when driving is anger or some idea that you wish they were not on the road you are already distracted and a danger to others.
If you want to worry you may be missing some that should be your own. Are you putting yourself, your family or other at risk with a car, cell phone, laptop, appliance, hot water heater, furnace, refrigerator, computer or power tool?
How to Prevent Your Desktop or Laptop Fire From Burning Down Your House
https://insurancehub.co
In 2007-2011, there were an estimated 730 reported U.S. home structure fires involving office equipment per year, resulting in:
11 civilian deaths per year
51 civilian injuries per year
$28 million in direct property damage per year
Forty-eight percent of the time, a computer was the cause of the fire.
https://www.govtech.com/em/disast...st-thought
Do get rid of the car also. They killed 40,000 lasts year on the roads in accidents and another 650 were burned to death when they catch fire and sometimes explode.
Go now and shed you life of such devices as the sky is falling as we speak. People are going to die and burn if you do not change your ways.
I only point out how moronic and foolish your decisions are if you have any of these product as I care so much for my fellow man and worry that harm may come to such foolish morons.
The deal, if the seller comes through as promised seems good. I would say however, CHECK YOUR LOCAL ordnance regarding these bikes. In my town, I know the cops just recently put out rules treating all motorized bikes like motorcycles and started ticketing/impounding them as such. Lots of kids riding them on sidewalks, racing them up and down neighborhood streets and not wearing safety equipment.
I used to cycle and those that claim you can hit a consistent 25mph on even flat roads are either elite athletes or have lots of wishful thinking. Even for elite athletes, we are talking safety vehicles riding ahead and behind with training on how to prevent accidents. Would you really throw your kids and teens into that kind of situation? PLEASE, keep your kids safe. If your area can accommodate these things safely, then this deal should be a ton of fun and cheap! If you're in an area with a ton of cars and you can't give sufficient supervision and education, do yourself a favor and just buy a regular bike instead.
seems every ebike thread is littered with nutty unhelpful opinions on everything other than the bikes.
anyone have this bike and compare it with the multitude of other AliX ebike options? dizzying array under 500 now. ty
I came here looking for any recent reviews as well. I ordered one for my brother. It arrived quickly. He put it together and discovered one of the tires was warped from being pinched inside the box. He tried to make do but inflating the warped tire kept causing the tube to pop a leak. Support request in through AliX now - this was my first purchase on the site so hopefully they'll just send us a new tire and tube. Everything else appears okay but unable to test at the moment.
