Took these Ozark Trail shoes to the beach and instantly regretted it. The mesh design might look "breathable," but it's basically an open invitation for every grain of sand to move in permanently. I spent more time shaking out my shoes than enjoying the beach.
Then I wore them to a river hike—huge mistake. The second I stepped into shallow water, tiny stones slipped right through the mesh and got lodged inside. These shoes are completely useless for any terrain involving sand, gravel and rocks.
They also take a while to dry.

Shoes are sold in pairs. The other one not pictured looks the same.

Are they true to regular US sneaker sizes? I normally wear an 8.5. Hard to decide if I should get an 8 or a 9.

I purchased these and they are comfotable. However, there is a design flaw in the flaw. The amount of velcro on the strap is place at the very end of the strap and is not a very large piece, so if you don't have a comfortable fit and want it tighter, then there may not be enough velcro to adjust the strap accordingly, since its only at the very tip of the strap.

I am a usual 9.5 and got the 10. and these were quite large. I added an insole and they're super comfortable.this also helped me with the placement of the Velcro on the strap issue.
