Just remember that the Pixel 10 is launching in a couple weeks. Decent chance Best Buy has the trade in an iPhone 13 or whatever and get one free like they have the last couple years. I would definitely wait unless you need a phone immediately.

I tried that, iOS is so incredibly primitive that I'd rather use a buggy Pixel than an iPhone.

I've been using Google phones since they started making them. I've had great experiences (Wife also has them).
There has been the normal sort of things over the years where you get an update that might mess with something small. Or the battery life dropping after using it for a couple years.
The only real issue I've ever had is with my current pixel 6. I've been using this for 3 years now and last month the battery decided to balloon a bit pushing the screen away from the case. Which of course led to ongoing battery issues.
I just keep an eye on the temperature when charging to avoid any serious fire hazards. I was hoping to wait till the 10 came out but I'm not sure it will make it.

This or the Pixel 9 for $389?

https://slickdeals.net/f/18492214-pixel-9-at-us-mobile-389-25-for-cellular-plan

I own 4x Pixel 9a's. Fine phones. No real complaints. I have no experience with the 9.

Thank you everyone for coming forward and admitting the shortcomings you've had with the Google branded phones. I've had horrible experiences with the Google phones myself and it's really validating to see others have had frustrations too. It seems whenever I speak out about it I get piled on by Pixel fanboys denying anything has ever been wrong with Google phones. Software bugs and hardware failure have been prevalent in all Google phones but the denial runs deep. The Pixel phones are a great option for techy people who understand what they are getting. Every non techy person I've ever met that tried a Pixel has moved on to iPhone. I only know one person IRL that all uses Pixel because of all the issues. The Pixel series drives people away from Android, it's a horrible product line. If someone wants a more vanilla than Samsung experience I'd try to steer them to something like Motorola or Nothing Phone maybe even OnePlus.

You know the battery is actively failing yet you keep using it? THAT'S WILD! That's way too dangerous for me.

It's $75 for trade-in, where you see $150?
They're talking about the $150 battery recall trade-in on the 6a. I own 2 x 6a's and only one of them qualified for the $150 recall credit.

From a galaxy user, curious....anyone have experience with both and care to share?
Switched back and forth betweeen Galaxy and Pixel over past 6yrs. It's up to end user preference. I liked both.
Just got a regular 9 on the Red Mobile deal last month. I don't exactly like Samsung's modifications to Android so I prefer the base Android of the Pixel. I miss LG and HTC flagships personally but that ship has now sailed. The one thing I dislike on the Pixel is that it doesn't have Miracast and only does Chromecast. Until the Pixel o didn't even realize that there's a difference, but I can't cast to my Roku or Samsung TV.

The Pixel 9 is a better phone in every way compared to the 9a unless you really hate the camera bump.

Lol I keep a close eye when it's charging. But yes it's not the safest thing to do. But the actual chance of it causing a fire is still pretty low.

Yes the lack of Miracast is annoying. But there are some options to sidestep the issue.

Still rocking my super reliable 4a. The 4a form factor just perfect, and maybe I got lucky, but I still get a full day out of the battery out of it. The 9a is tempting because I think they worked the bugs out of 5a-8a, but I would only get $40 in rebate for my 4a. They'll have to pry it from my cold dead hands.

My wife and I have been using 9as since May and we both really like them. One of the best budget phones out there imo.

Pixel software is fine.I'm on my 4th Pixel (like the camera and Android) and all four had to be RMA'd and, admittedly, fixed for free by Google even outside the warranty. Other than they all seem to crap out around 2 years. The fingerprint sensor on my 8 kind of sucks. My wife has had various iPhones since the 3gs and not one has had to be RMA'd and our 8+ still works despite the screen barely staying on from a not-quite-perfect battery repair I did-- my son uses it for Pokemon Go.
wow, my 3a, 6a are still working like brand new. I got the new 9a on the Visible deal and it's outstanding. My iPhone sits in a drawer.

The hardware on pixel is really bad compared to what Samsung offers. I've owned multiple pixels, given up and moved to iPhone, and now happy on Samsung Android. Any Google hardware is bad, period.
period? That you Joe?

I know this is a 9a, but I have an 8a and I absolutely hate it! I did month of research on it because I am very picky. My old $100 Motorola, as well as my older iPhone are more dependable than this turd. You know that feeling when you just want to throw your phone, but than you know you shouldn't, well, that's how I feel pretty much every day. Just thought people should know before Google gets any more money for useless products.
Thanks for your personal ranting about a phone that's not the pixel 9a and not explain what exactly was wrong with it.... Very informative.
