I got this to replace an old echo spot, the round one from years ago, that started to fail. While I like this one, it's not perfect, but for my use it's fine. It is a good alarm clock and that is basically what I was looking for. The screen isn't as big as the cutout area makes it out to be, it's actually on the smaller size, however, for an alarm clock it's decent enough size. The auto brightness and auto night modes work well. It doesn't display any ads, which is a funny thing to list as a feature, but here we are lol. The sound is good enough and is a step up over the old spot it is replacing. I enjoy using it as a sound machine and it has gentler music options for alarms for waking up that are really nice. It doesn't have a camera, and it can't show you your security cams or anything really, past weather and time and a few basic things. And of those things it does display, it's a very minimalist view and don't expect a very detailed weather report, etc. It's a very simple device with simple options which many will enjoy, but if you are expecting a tiny version of an echo show, this is not it. I got a little tripod with wooden legs that gives it a nice look on the nightstand. Overpriced, but this one I liked the best and it's fairly good quality. Would not recommend this. The microphones are piss poor. I basically have to scream at it while standing 2 feet away in my bed room.

Check out a YouTube tutorial on how to hide the ads. It's a bit buried in the settings, but I was able to turn off all the ads on my Echo Show 5 so it only shows the time and weather.
Also, I can confirm the Spot is much faster than the Echo Show 5 (I have both). The Show 5 can be painfully slow sometimes, especially when it's preparing a video or using a skill to control another device.
