Be careful. This is the newer version of the X1 which doesn't come with the Bafang motor. The original X1 did and it also had nicer wheels and an IPS display. This upgraded version is actually a downgrade.

I saw a review questioning long term support from the company and mechanical issues. True?

Are you questioning your own ability to see a review ?

Regardless and just like any other reviews (on any product), they should be taken as a collective over many sources and then read for patterns.

If you see a constant pattern of poor customer service, poor design, etc....then there's a higher likelihood for those statements to be true.

Is it a good deal for this bike? The bike checks all my requirements. I would have loved it to be closer to $600… also, can I install Thule yepp maxi bike seat on it?

its a nominal 750w just to stay "legal"..but motors peak at much higher. so a 750w nominal would peak at like 1200-2k watts

How long can these sustain peaks? Could it go up a steep hill for a mile?

it sustains peak constantly..only when the battery goes down (voltage goes down) is when the wattage goes down.
cheaper hub motors arent good for hills generally
