This comment is widely misunderstood. The China thing isn't a commentary on Chinese manufacturing, it's that Zojirushi has a different line of lower quality products made in China vs the Japanese line. The machines are different, and rice purists (snobs? you decide...) say it's a noticeable difference.

China has the ability to make whatever quality the customer wants. the reason why americans have a bad perception of chinese manufacturing is because all of the american companies go there and ask for the cheapest lowest quality option available.

Wow, that is a huge disappointment.I guess not surprising, tho. At this price point, they can hit.
I feel like itysl gets referenced more than most obscure shows, or maybe I just don't get the other references

That's why I don't buy iPhones. I only buy phones from Vietnam.
Apple has not confirmed plan to assemble iPhone in Vietnam, so you don't own smartphone so far?

There can be quality items from China but mostly China makes the cheapest and least environmentally friendly items that the Communist Dicattorship allows. China is trying to undercut and destroy other countries manufacturing.

People are missing the point, Zojirushi has always had a cheap rebrand model that they produce out of china and a nicer model that they produce out of japan and korea. The latter models tend to last longer and cook rice better. If you do any research into the company's products, you'll find this. It has nothing to do with the quality of products from China, it's simply their cheap line.

Which dictatorship allows American people to produce so much CO2 emissions?

It's just related to Zoji. Chinese Zoji is not worth the premium you pay for the Zoji name. Cheaper brands, also made in china, are just as good as Chinese Zoji. Japanese Zoji are worth the money.

Anthony it's not a knock on China, they are not the China of old.
It's praise for Japans quality. If you know Japan, everything is extremely strict and regulated leading to some really high quality products. Look up the manufacturing of suitcases in Japan vs China. Chinas very good it's just the Japanese take it a step further

Maybe this will help enlighten some of those that made negative comments and help those that wonder. Do note that I take this from experience being that my mother is from Tokyo.

This brand is one of the top brands in all of Japan. I'm sure all of us can assume that the Japanese take their rice very seriously. If you think for a moment that Zojirushi is gonna settle for anything less than absolutely A1 stellar QC on any of their products, you're severely mistaken.

With my next comment, IYKYK........ the amount of face that would be lost and the pride that would be bruised and tainted by not having an absolutely high-level product under this brand name for the Japanese, would be MASSIVE. Again, IYKYK.

First, they do sell them (although the price is a bit high). Just search for Zojirushi replacement pot.
Second, my rice cooker is 8 years old and still works well. The coating is susceptible to scratching and high temperatures. Scratching is not an issue if you used the attached plastic paddle, not a metal spoon.
I saw the replacements are almost as much as buying a new cooker. I always use the plastic paddle but I suspect the scratches are from scrapping burnt reheated rice from the bottom
