If you don't have a Costco membership and you're fine with rolling the dice on GameStop's preowned inventory, they've got them for $74.69 used: https://www.gamestop.com/gaming-a...26150.html
Looks like they're in-stock for shipping and just shy of the $79 free shipping threshold, but store pickup is generally a safer option so that you can inspect the controller in person first.

The Switch 1 Pro Controller is possibly my favorite controller of all time. With that said, the fact that the Switch 2 Pro Controller is still using the same design, did not incorporate hall effect sticks or other modern designs, and may still be vulnerable to stick drift, is unforgivable.

I am not going to spend $75 or more on a controller that will become unusable in 2-3 years with mild use.

I've played on both this and the 8bitdo ultimate 2C BT and I actually prefer the 8bitdo. Yes it doesn't wake the switch2 remotely but I'm okay with getting off my butt to push 1 button and save $50 per controller.

I have the Switch Pro Controller which works on the Switch 2, except it doesn't power it on (damn you Nintendo!).

Went ahead and bought this.

If you already have the switch 1 pro controller (I have two), they work just fine with the switch two. You just can't turn on the switch 2 with it. Besides that, very minor detailed changes. Save that money!

Switch 1 Pro controllers are a fantastic way to go for PC emulation. No missing buttons and a built-in gyroscope covers everything you'd need to map any console to a S1 Pro, and from personal experience I've found that they hold their battery life better than an Xbox Series or PS5 controller. PlayStation controllers do have a D-pad that is a lot better, though, so games that rely on precise directional inputs are better off with a PS controller.
They're also much cheaper if you check Ebay for them instead of your local video game store; there are a lot of import resellers who snagged hundreds of Japanese-packaging (but region-free) Pro controllers before 2025 and they're currently being unloaded at $38-40 each, brand-new, with free shipping, regardless of whether they're the standard Pro controller or one of the limited-edition designs that were tied to a specific game.
Thanks for this feedback. You sold on the original pro controller over using ps5.

In your experience, would the pro controller allow me to use gyroscope controls for the Zelda shrines that require using a controller tilt functions?

does this do anything different then switch pro controller on PC? for yuzu and stuff....

need the controller to be compatible with PC, for a bunch of emus to play
If you're not using this for the switch 2, I strongly urge you to look at 3rd party controllers. For less than the price of this, you can find a game pad 4 back buttons, additional shoulder buttons, hall effect or TMR sticks and triggers, turbo, etc.

Check out r/Controllers - there's countless other options out there.

Does anyone know what is the advantage of the Switch 2 pro over the Switch pro controller?
Look up on Youtube. There are many professional comparison videos.
But in short,
  • joy stick is smoother,
  • buttons bigger and less clicky,
  • can wake up switch 2,
  • has two additional back buttons,
  • has a dedicated chat button.

ripoff! nintendo won't allow you to turn on switch 2 with your old pro controller, trying to force you into purchasing this over priced thing, so you'll be able to turn on switch 2 remotely.

You can price match with Best Buy too, you might have to go to the store though and show your Costco Membership. Some reps might let you do the price match online, but officially Best Buy only price matches Costco.com in-store since you have to show proof of membership.

This has been out of stock at Costco for at least the past week. I assumed it wouldn't come back at this price due to tarrifs.
I thought tariff is punishing the country who produced the product, seems American are paying the price! Go MAGA!

Thank you for making this post. I have been waiting for it to come back in stock so I can combine it with other items and use the $100 off $200 promo.
