I was looking for a 4 or 8 but I'm not taking a chance after reading about their terrible support and speed slowing down. I'll wait for a more reputable drive.

Not really, although there are some complaints about sustained write speeds.

The 4TB X9 Pro [amazon.com] is down to $199 (SD thread here). Someone said that's the TLC version the last time these went on sale, which should help with sustained speeds and longevity. I still see a number of reviews that complain about speeds though, FWIW.

I still have my SLC 840 Pro from 10 years ago back when TLC was what people were avoiding. The times are a changing...

Yes, the 4TB X9 Pro is what I went with. I think it's worth the extra $14. Probably won't matter for occasional use, which is how most people will use this thing.

I have three of these (one always attached, 2 rotating back ups). They are the great. I don't know if they have mixed sourcing, but Amazon does show that this is the one I bought the last two times.I bought the third on eBay.

I have the 2tb X9 Pro and it's been a solid workhorse since January. The form factor is incredible too.
