Used a spoonfull of Citric acid every week or so in a plastic tub dishwasher which helped a lot with the odor. That being said, we did upgrade to a 300 from an Amana after the rack started to rust badly. Best Buy scratch and dent for $400 and no complaints. Still have to use the citric acid every so often.
Where do u place the citric?

Bosch dishwashers can easily last 15 years, regardless of price levels. I haven't seen Bosch dishwashers at this price for many years, should go front page soon.
My Samsung lasted 13 years. Just saying.

In the detergent cup. Run a wash cycle with the dishwasher empty of all dishes/silverware/etc on eco mode if available. Empty because even a small amount of citric acid can damage some dishes or silverware. If you're trying to "power clean" the dishwasher use roughly 4 ounces in the detergent cup and run a regular cycle (making sure once again that the dishwasher is empty).

Neither of which are needed. And really, a Bosch for $266 is a screaming deal.
A stainless tub does help with noise deadening and drying performance over plastic... Especially considering that Bosch dishwashers suck at drying in general... IMHO that third rack is also fairly useless in Bosch dishwashers too. We bought an 800 a few months ago and it routinely doesn't clean our utensils up there, so we've reverted to using the bottom drawer utensil basket instead. Ours has the heated stone thing and still doesn't dry properly with all hi-temp options enabled. Oh well, maybe for a few hundred Bosch would've been worth the gamble but not $1000 on the higher end models at least. Not impressed for the money and miss my old $400 Whirlpool lol..

The drying is the only thing I miss about our old Whirlpool. nod But I haven't had anything but Bosch for twenty years now, can't really comment on more modern Whirlpools.

We had a full stainless Bosch in our old house and because of "supply chain issues" in The Summer of COVID we were stuck with getting a plastic tub Bosch when remodeling the kitchen in our current home. I really don't see any performance difference between them, and both need(ed) to have the door cracked open after running a cycle to help dry the dishes.

Yeah, I read that the models which crack the door open automatically dry well enough... But of course I had to get the upgraded model with the mystical stones, so no automatic door feature on my 800 lol. I will say though, the thing is absolutely whisper quiet compared to the old Whirlpool... Which is nice considering how loud the new Bosch 500 fridge right next to it is compared to the near-silent 20yr Frigidaire it replaced haha. I went all in on a Bosch bundle and should've done better research. I'm assuming "they just don't build 'em like they used to" in the case of Bosch, as everyone seems to rave about them. My biggest peeve is the Bosch 800 slide-in electric range with capacitive-touch oven controls that are actuated EVERY SINGLE TIME you open the oven and steam wafts over them. I mean seriously, who designs this crap!? I kick myself twice as hard for not even questioning that on the sales floor lol.
They all look really nice though, and the 500 microwave hasn't given me any grief thankfully!

looks like the stainless steel color/finish is still available, but at $316. Seems like a good price still?
