So I pulled the trigger and bought one. It arrived via FedEx in 3 days in good shape. The packaging was excellent with plastic Shields protecting fragile parts like the derailleur and disc brake. The whole thing was zip tied together tightly to prevent rubbing together of the various parts during transit. Assembly took about 30 minutes with the provided tools and one nut and one bolt had shake and loose and were missing. It was bigger, sturdier, and heavier than expected. Overall, super fun to ride, and probably is truly a thousand Watts as it zipped up steep hills without any difficulty. Frankly, 1-2/10 on the power assisted is all I really need to get up to about 15 mph going up hills. The color LCD display could be brighter. The charger doesn't work, and more below on that. My overall impression: One of the better Slick deals for the year!

One of the reasons I'm writing this reply is that this thread is less about the bike, more about Chinese e-bikes and products in general. When I last visited China, that their bicycle market is completely different than ours. I saw streams of thousands of workers using them to commute to work, along with mopeds. I view this fat tire bike as a bicycle / moped - motorcycle crossover. The US market seems to have embraced various level high end, competition quality race bikes and mountain bikes. Because it's about converting every bit of energy into motion, every bit of weight matters, as does what expensive alloy is used. I think the Chinese bikes overcome these parameters because economy of scale have made lithium-powered motors so inexpensive there. The other issue is that where I live, bike theft is rampant. My bike locks cost $100-200, and they still get stolen. There is no downside to stealing bicycles in the United States, according to economists. So for actual commuting purposes, it makes no sense to buy an expensive bike.

A lot of what we pay for in the US is service, and it gets passed on to the consumer. If there's something significantly wrong, the bike shop the bike shop just raises the price of all their products so they still make a profit. So it took some time to put the bike together, to replace a couple of missing parts, and get a new charger. For some people, that would be unacceptable, and expect the warranty to cover all of that, but I'd rather just deal with it myself. I have bought several thousands of dollars of stuff on Ali express, and I've learned how to do business with Chinese companies. I know AliExpress won't release any of my money to the seller if I file a dispute within a certain timeframe. I know from previous interactions that if push comes to shove, there is this authoritative "system" in place that will look at all the data from the back and forth between the vender and I and make some sort of a judgment. It's very Chinese, and not the way we do things with BBB, FTC and credit card companies in the US. In anticipation of that, I've taken a picture of a voltmeter attached to the broken charger, showing that it is plugged in. Attached is a nice note saying how much I like the bike and would love to write a great review. I expect that it's all it's going to take to get a new charger within the next couple of days, so the bike dealer can get paid.

My last ebike lasted over 10 years, without the motor failing or the battery burning down my house, before it was stolen. You can do whatever you want with your money, but for me, I'm in full recognition that times are changing, and the US may never be able to make or fix certain things like economical e-bikes, and just categorically boycotting things emotionally is not a real solution.

I prefer my 26-inch fat tire for my average riding (just getting from point A to point b. With dry pavement, gravel, mud, or snow). It doesn't maneuver as easy but glides over average obstacles. Now if I was to go through extreme terrain, with sharp turns, and steep slopes, my 20 inch is much easier. Kinda like comparing my Honda XR80, with my Honda XL500 Enduro
Why do people use, so many unecessary commas, these days

10 pages of comments and 2...count em...2 posts actually address this specific bike. Take your general conversations to reddit. Vast majority of this thread is not helpful nor serving any practical purpose. Thanks SD community for another insightful comment section.

Apparently you didn't read my post. My cheap ebike has 2000+ miles and still runs perfectly fine. I haven't had to do anything other than change the brake pads once, not because there was an issue but simply because it was time to change them. I also clearly stated if you aren't capable/willing to work on your ebike yourself, a drop shipped ebike isn't for you. Yes it is ebike elitism/gatekeeping and spreading FUD about constant breakdowns/burning homes down. Look on reddit and you will see posts of premium $2k+ ebikes also breaking in the first month. Google ebike fires and zoom in, you'll see some premium brands in those infernos. To be clear, I'm not shaming anyone who doesn't want to or didn't have the skills to work on their ebike. I don't have the patience/time to change my cars oil, so I take it to a shop. What irks me is how out of touch ebike elitists are. People on a tight budget want to jump in and enjoy the hobby and see something they can afford and instead get dragged and told to spend 4x+ more like that's within grasp for everyone. Then to add insult to injury they talk about taking their bike to a shop to change a tire for $100+.If you were genuinely worried about battery safety you could lead with "swap the battery for a UL listed one for safety." But all you elitist have the same exact FUD tactic. You ALWAYS lead with "sure, get it, if you want to burn your house down" as though this is some way to express some genuine concern for safety. You clearly just hang out on reddit and echo all the crap those elitists spew 24/7. Its gatekeeping at its worst and it's not helping advance the hobby, it just turns people off to it.If I didn't know any better I'd say many of the elitists work for the premium brands and just want to scare folks because LITERALLY almost every post about a cheap ebike on reddit has someone chiming in with your "burn your house down" comment almost verbatim. And yet 90% of those folks don't understand setup and operation of the battery packs, BMS, Ah vs Amps, voltage ranges, etc. They are just repeating the same false narrative over and over again to make them feel superior because they got ripped off spending way too much on an ebike. Nobody is spewing this nonsense about cheap USB chargers but a pierced Lithium battery is catastrophic even if the size of a deck of cards, YouTube it. Yet of the millions and millions shipping you only hear of fires when someone mistreats it or does something dumb. And there is no data on how many of those fires are premium or UL listed vs not. So it is indeed FUD, not backed by any real statistics or facts. Don't believe me? Search the reddit threads, it's been asked many times but no one ever can produce any actual evidence of the claims. The motors, even for your premium noted bikes come off the same assembly lines. And with regards to support, my "cheap" $300 48v 750w ebike, I emailed the vendor asking if they sell spare batteries. The next day they replied and said they were shipping me one for free, and indeed they did. This is my second, my first is a custom build 1500w/2000w peak that I assembled myself to include making a custom battery pack. So I'm very familiar with the mechanics and in and outs of ebikes. I got this as a backup for when I wanted to do upgrades on my primary and I was pleasantly surprised with how well it works, especially for the price.
I am highly educated - I understand basic electricity and ohms law. 48 volts powering a 750 watt hub motor is 15 Amps - Look at the paper thin wiring that has to fit thru the tiny hollow opening thru the axle to power the motor ! It's smaller than 22 gauge and it's not even copper wiring. AND as your battery discharges the voltage goes down and that increases the amperage to 18 amps at 42 volts. Look at the wiring in your house, it's much thicker 16-14 gauge wire that supplies a 15 amp circuit and 12-10 supplies 20 amp. That wiring to your hub motor will break or melt and slowly destroy the hub motor, the common issue with the hub motors they get too hot that weakens the rotating armature frame (made from cheap white molded metal) and goes off center - out of round and shorts out rubbing on the stator + not to mention heat causes the windings to expand and not stay tight.

Where can you ride this bike? 28 mph is too fast for sidewalk but too slow for major roads.

Same places you would ride a regular bike. In your neighborhood or one roads to the right, the shoulder or bike lane. Many states are putting in bike trails or you can use exiting hiking trails. What area are you in?

I have found lots of ares to ride once getting one but it sometimes requires to toss them on the truck. They have put in bike lanes on many major roads but it is kind of joke as we are so heavily congested and full of aggressive drivers I feel you would have to be crazy to use them.

Are the battery/charger UL2849 certified? Aliexpress link has UL under certification, and this ebay link also states UL2849 certified, but I don't see it on Amyet website or in the bike manual.
Can someone who has already received check if battery and charger have UL markings?

You just proved you've never seen one. Wiring on my ebike is thicker than wiring to my 120v outlet. Which it should be as you've also proven you don't understand how wattage works.

Please do not pretend to understand electrical codes and standards... Your currently non-charcoal home will appreciate you for it.

I don't see any markings that either battery or charger are UL certified. I just bought a second charger off Amazon that is UL certified, has a built in fan, and supposedly has circuitry so it doesn't overcharge. As I understand it, UL 2849 certification is for the entire bike and not just the components, and that requires submitting 20 or so bikes plus $15-20K and waiting a couple of months. Honestly, at this price point, I'm not sure AMYET is gonna jump through that hoop unless it substantially impacts their sales in the US. It also seems we are in a period of deregulation, and price pressures from tariffs make me doubt UL certification is going to happen. It's too bad, because lithium battery fires are exceptionally nasty and on the rise. I'm guessing that it's nowhere near gas or propane, but one still needs to be thoughtful.

Thank you for checking and thoughtful response! Would you please share link to the charger that you bought? I bought the bike and planning on buying a metal box for charging. May look into buying the ul certified charger but bit hesitant to use a charger that is not specifically designed for this bike.

If you want to be extra cautious, search on Amazon for lipo fireproof bag. You can use those to keep the battery in when charging or not in use. I use these for my rc lipos and ebike lipos.
