Looks like a ryzen 5 220, which is a rebadged ryzen 5 7545U and comes with a 740M igpu.

Notebookcheck says the memory controller is ddr5 5600 or lpddr5x 7500, and best buy says the memory speed is 6400, so I'm guessing some kind of lpddr5x soldered memory at 6400 is being used in order to hit that number

with 2? of the 8GB being claimed by the iGPU, windows performance might not be great? Basic linux tasks would probably be fine though?

If I buy this for a 70 year old grandmother with poor eye sight, when will she experience a bottleneck due to 8gb ram?

why worry about a bottle neck when she's vision impaired? just test to see if audio is good enough and keys are normal layout

I tried it out today, keyboard is in fact back lit and the typing experience is decent. Keys being so close together means it may get time to get used to for some people with spread out keys. I use mechanical high keyboard so I had no issue. The screen was definitely a wow factor. The box and the packaging felt very premium, even at a $1000 version it probably ships in the same fancy box. Hinge felt sturdy. All aluminum chassis felt assuring. I am glad I didn't opt for a Dell 15in sold at Costco for the same price, that thing was a plastic island from the 90s design.

You'll have about 5Gb. I bought a similar Ryzen for someone. Even with lite W11, barely 5gb on clean boot. Normal w11 must be like 3.5gb free lol. Speed is fine but memory is tight for large applications. I think it's fine for typing, basic graphics programs, audio editing, very old games, etc.

Yeah on slickdeals we have this false sense of reality where all consumers need at least 16gb ram, and commenters try to steer buyers to opt for a used machine with older tech than a new machine with lesser ram. It's been this way since the "Does it have HDMI port?" days. In reality, most consumers don't even know what Linux is. 8gb is fine for an average consumer.

I probably wouldn't buy any Windows laptop with un-upgradable 8GB RAM unless I have plans to install Linux on it.
