I have an application for a room with a sliding door that is opened many times per hour when we have parties. I would like the 18K capability when the room probably only needs 12K except during parties (frequent). Does anybody know what BTU these can turndown to? 4K,6K, 8K?

If you can get the mobile app working, it has a adjustable "power limit" feature with a minimum 30%. So in theory that would be 5.4K BTU but you could set it at 40% or whatever else.

Seconding the comment from Brett, there are adjustable power limits, but also the unit is an inverter mini-split, so it will adjust the compressor speed to match demand, so you should be able to just set the temperature based on what you find comfortable and the unit will make adjustments as the cooling demand changes.

Is this appropriate for a solar-powered RV running 230V?

It depends on the room. I have a sunroom that is 75% windows with a large 9' sliding door. The wall and roof is not insulated. On a 80+ degree day, my Mr. Cool 18k btu can not keep up.

Interesting, I DIY installed a Pioneer 12K unit in mine 18'x16' 4-seasons with 10ft cathedral ceiling. 2 double sliders and 11 panels of tall windows. Hardly any actual wall space. I have to set my AC to 73 otherwise it gets too cold. Both units barely spin.

You definitely are losing alot due to lack of insulation.
