Purchased this from Costco at a higher price a few weeks ago. Seriously fast laptop. It's a little heavy but no different from a macbook pro 14. Only downside is that battery life is so-so (5-6 hours of browsing with regular brightness) and there is no fingerprint reader for some reason. Also, appreciated the generous selection of ports by todays laptop standards.

The Intel version you got at Costco comes with the Core Ultra 258V and LED screen correct?

That is an apple to orange comparison with this laptop in terms of battery life because the CPU in this laptop performs better at the cost of higher wattage as well as the OLED screen on this which is better at the cost of higher wattage. So that is why the Intel version gets better battery life.

Just got mine price adjusted from Costco. Can't agree more with Brandon's review. Great laptop, fantastic, fast performance. Love the all metal chassis in the Elite book. It is a little chunky, IMO, where the similar vivobook I have for work is slightly slimmer, and maybe slightly lighter, but the Asus plastic chassis has failed me once, and I can tell it's going to faile again. I really wish I ran into this elite book before I did the vivobook.
OLED probably sucks on battery, but it's crazy bright, and meets my needs by far. Touchpad feels great. Camera appears to have infrared which might be why it doesn't have the finger print reader, but it is a strange occurrence as the elite books usually get finger print readers.
Looking on the inside, it's a very dense build, and doing an nvme swap will be hard..However, np sodimms, this is the super fast lp ddr5. The NVMe it comes with is a really high performer, too. I think it is from sk hynix, and it brings something like over 1.2-1.3 million IOPS, and sequentials around 3GB/s.
great deal for $1300. IMO.

Thanks for your report. Not having a fingerprint reader is a bummer. I also wish HP added an anti-reflective treatment on the EB like they did with Spectres.

If you have a caliper, will you please measure the true thickness, from the front, and from the back, with and without the rubber feet? HP advertises 0.36" (front) to 0.52" (back). A review said that it was 0.72" from the back with the rubber feet, but with all the photos I've seen, it appears thicker.

Also, a YT review said that it is 3.55 lbs (as opposed to the 3.30 advertised).

Does anyone know the refresh rate of this screen and whether it supports variable refresh rate?

Based on what I have seen, this computer does not have ant-reflection like Spectre, XPS, or Galaxy Book. Do you find the reflection bothersome when there is a window or lightsource reflecting off of the display? For displays without anti-reflection like Gorilla Glass DX, I can laterally see myself, when I blink, etc. when in dark mode. The lack of fingerprint is a disappointment. I presume you do not see it under Windows security or hardware manager? Lastly, do the fans stay relatively quiet during moderate workloads? The 375 is a beast and I wonder how much heat it generates. Thanks!
Sorry for the delayed response. Yes, its not an anti-glare/reflection screen so I can see how this can be bothersome. While I normally dont work in full sunlight situations, I did find it mildly irritating when I was sitting in my sun-room.
I could not see anything in Windows Security or Hardware manager regarding fingerprints. Its almost like they made a unit specifically for Costco.
I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the fans were during regular browsing and office productivity work. I had the opportunity to test it out and compare it with an Omnibook ultra flip from Best Buy (SKU 6601706), and the latter was far noisier.

We need an option that doesn't include this Copilot crap. I've heard it's nearly impossible to remove, as it reinstalls itself even with minor OS updates. Also I thought AMD support USB4 ports and not thunderbolt ports. This is one of the few compact laptops I saw three usb-c connectors.
That Thunderbolt 3/4 fiasco you are talking about is a long thing of the past. Back in 2017, Intel had made Thunderbolt Royalty free and Open Source. So, anybody who can implement Thunderbolt 3/4/5's minimum requirements including the Security features, can implement that in their device irrespective AMD, Intel or ARM. How do you think MacBooks with M series ARM SOC support it?
And this is not HP's 1st device with AMD Processor and fully licensed Thunderbolt 3/4 ports. Their Elitebook 8XX series has been supporting that since the launch of Ryzen 6000 series.
Now in very simple terms, USB4 is basically Thunderbolt 4 without the need to implement the Security features. That's why you see almost all Consumer Laptops just go with USB4, which reduces the costs as they don't need to implement those security features (AMD Processors doesn't support them natively whereas Intel does).

I just bought an open-box G10 Elitebook 835 (13" AMD 7000-series). It's fantastic. Unfortunately the 13" does not have DIMMs, it's soldered only RAM, but I wanted the smaller size. For anyone looking at this deal, please know that AMD's AI laptop chips do not support DIMMs, at all. Soldered only; RAM sticks are unsupported at the platform level (which is crazy, but go off, I guess). I think the same is true of Intel as well, I just can't remember 100%, so I'm not gonna say that.
All the Strix Point APUs support DIMM memory and there are plenty of Laptops and Mini PCs with the Ryzen AI chips and SODIMM memory. However, that is limited to DDR5-5600 MT/s. Just go to the Product page of any of the Strix Point APUs and you will see that it supports LPDDR5X/DDR5, listed in official AMD site.

Good info but Thunderbolt was co-developed by Apple with Intel so I wouldn't be surprised if they put in their macbooks whether it's ARM or X86.

Thunderbolt was co-developed by Apple for the Intel Processors they had been using that time, not for any other platforms.

Can you share the refresh rate of the screen? It's not listed on the Costco product description…

HP lists the OLED screen option of this G1a series as 120hz variable refresh rate:

Unfortunately even Thinkpads have soldered memory.
Not all of them.
