I agree these blades are very affordable but don't last long at all. Since we are here on the subject can anyone recommend best blades that last a long time no matter the cost???

For the tree these would do it but are far from ideal. If you get pruning blades it will go faster and be way less work. when i say faster like twice as fast and no being beat to crap by the sawzall...That is from personal experience, felt the fool for using the standard after trying the pruning ones. I'm a cheapskate and they we were well worth any extra money and sometimes you can find them pretty cheap. Lots of chon brands now but think I used Porter Cable that may have been china made.

As to the root even good blades will dull if you are cutting roots down in the dirt. I have done such but I usually used old used ones as to not ruin new ones. Ones in this set will do it but you will go through some cutting roots. Use the most aggressive and the lowest teeth count.

I tried that with corded 14" one but again it ruined blades and a more expensive blades than reciprocating ones after one or two roots. Got to the point I was starting to overtax and overheat the saw trying to get more out of it. Switched back to the sawzall. Sometimes a pair of loppers are also great for roots.

Cutting dirt is going to prematurely dull most blades. You might want to try a blade made for cutting plaster, drywall or a "demolition" blade. They're made to take more abuse than normal blades.

Thanks for the tip, when I had cut about 20 tree / bushes then the dirt eroded and I kept hitting them as I mowed.. decided to do a triangle cut so it was my first time trying it, works great.. just went through my first 10 cheaper blades. But I did cut about 100 of those dang weed trees out of the wooded area
