Not sure if this is the model, but some of their rice cookers have non-removable batteries that power the backlight on the display. It required desoldering the battery to replace it.

Looks super basic. No pressure cooking, no induction for low energy use.

Cheaper Cuckoo model with similar options at Walmart at https://www.walmart.com/ip/2433060172 for $49. No backlight, just simple red LED screen. Model CUCKOO CR-0605F

if you want the best reasonably-priced rice cooker: Cuckoo CRP-P1009S
Can get for under $250, sometimes much lower on amazon re-sale.

I just bought this and it arrived yesterday.

Got it for $127.59 in Like-New condition in white 10 cup, really looks like previous owner opened the box and decided it was too large. It is a big boi. Appears there are a few more at that price.

Total price after tax after applying some AMEX Prime rewards dollars was $123, and I'll get 5% back on the purchase so total price after tax should be $116.87. Shout out to whoever pointed out that this model gets a lot cheaper on the Amazon resale on a previous zojirushi thread.

My new favorite feature is being able to keep the rice heated and ready to eat even 15 hours later, with no real impact in taste/texture. I'm going to learn how to use it better, it was a bit too sticky for me but I used high heat glutinous rice. In the future I will try regular glutinous (non high-heat), and someone said on amazon that the mixed rice setting for jasmine works well.

I've read that you can rinse the rice a bit till the water runs more clear and that helps with being less sticky since more of the starch is gone.

I am also impressed though, the rice is definitely better than my old zojirushi but I did like the little elephant.

Cuckoo CRP-P1009S

It's the upgrade-pick here at wirecutter: https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutte...ce-cooker/
You can sometimes get it cheaper on Amazon through their "amazon resale" in other buying options. Just make sure it's shipped and sold by amazon.
