This is a 12 pack. Costco is an 8 pack. This comes out slightly cheaper per can versus my local Costco.

I've eaten spam (unopened) for 2+ years past best by date all of my life (have a home overseas that we dont visit often and spam is one of the things we stock up on over there). YMMV, of course Here at home, I'd go through a 12-pack well before 6 months...unfortunately 😁

Costco has the same item on sale for $17.89. Normal price is $23.89 which is still cheaper if you have a membership.

I'm worried about the expiration. The last time I bought a six pack spam online they expired within 6 months. I usually like buying a lot of these keep it in storage for emergency and for camping.

Sodium is still 570mg, so not low sodium, just less sodium.

Everything fine in moderation. But for those with high blood pressure, it is a concern.

The date on canned foods is NOT an expiration date, it is the best used by date for flavor and full nutritive , i.e - vitamins potency, values. As long as the seal is intact, there is no swelling or leaking, and no hissing or foul odor when opening the can, food should be suitable for consumption. Of course, this is also highly dependent on the storage conditions, such as stable environment. No excessive temperatures, humidity, or light. Around 55 to 60°, and low humidity.

Could we not treat this like "old fashioned" salt meat? Maybe a 4 hour pre-soak when your camping before you dab off the excess moisture and fry it up as normal?

Or would that not work for a reconstituted meat product like this?
